"Installed 7 push piers in two days and was able to raise the foundation of one wall up one inch to level it back with the rest of the house. The crew of Jonathan H, Manuel A and Gerardo T did an efficient and clean job. I was kept informed at every step of the process."

"FEMA required that our commercial property grade be raised out of the new floodplain. I pulled together bids from numerous companies and got their opinion on how they would go about the project because of it being in a hard to reach area. Of all the bids, Buds was the most affordable, and his approach to handling the project was very straight forward and made the most sense. He got started right away and stayed on the project every day until it was complete, which didn't take long. He stuck to his quote and there were no surprises. The site has been surveyed and the work looks good down to every detail. Bud and his company BMG Services will always be my go-to service provider for any future projects."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

To keep your family safe during masonry work in Cheyenne, install secure temporary fencing around the site. High winds easily blow dust and loose materials, while open excavations in local clay soils create fall hazards. Keep children and pets away from uncured mortar, as it remains highly caustic in cooler weather and causes chemical burns. Ask your contractor to implement strict dust containment measures to prevent hazardous silica exposure.

Helpful?

You will find several types of local professionals handling masonry work across WY. Specialty contractors focus exclusively on brick, block, and stone structures like retaining walls. Chimney specialists handle tuckpointing and firebox rebuilding for cold-climate homes. Concrete contractors manage flatwork like driveways and patios. For historic downtown properties, hire restoration experts experienced with historic mortar matching. General contractors also manage structural block tasks during large residential additions.

Helpful?

The success of masonry work in Cheyenne depends heavily on proper footings dug below the 36-inch frost depth to prevent heaving. Contractors must use severe-weather-rated mortar to withstand the region's frequent freeze-thaw cycles. Proper drainage systems are essential to stop expansive clay soils from cracking your walls. Additionally, structures require specific wind load engineering and careful curing protocols to combat rapid moisture loss in the semi-arid climate.

Helpful?

Completing masonry work provides immediate protection against high Cheyenne winds and elevated wildfire risks. Properly installed structures with deep footings immediately prevent frost heave damage. Over the long term, these durable materials resist severe freeze-thaw cycles and intense UV exposure far better than wood. Retaining walls stabilize shifting clay soils to stop erosion, while the thermal mass of stone and brick improves your property's overall energy efficiency.

Helpful?

The timeline for masonry work varies based on the project size and WY weather conditions. Small chimney repairs take a few days, while retaining walls require one to two weeks. Foundation projects take several weeks to months. High winds and freezing temperatures frequently halt outdoor construction. Schedule your project during the summer peak season, and account for extra days to accommodate mandatory municipal permit processing and phase inspections.
