"We had Jim and his team dig a crawl space hole in our backyard for an ADU for my wife’s parents. I had constructed dozens of homes in years past but the space in my personal back yard was extremely limited. I was completely amazed on how they dug, stored the dirt, and back filled the new foundation with proper compaction! I would definitely recommend and hire Jim and his guys every time!"

"This project started as grading my yard, but Bud listened to what I was wanting to accomplish and was able to provide additional services including building a fence for my yard. I had four companies come out to provide a quote. Only two companies actually submitted a quote. There was over $1,000 difference between the two quotes. I will turn to BMG Services LLC for all of my future needs and can not give enough praise for the work done!!!!!"

I’ve been in the construction industry for well over 10 years I’ve mastered in different trades and as of right now I’ve been building high end pole barns and barndominiums. I’m located around northern Colorado and more south I also travel to Cheyenne Wyoming. \n\nI specialize in structural framing, laminate flooring, tile, drywall, pole barns. \n\nI treat my jobs like if I was building it for me. I pay attention to details on the projects I do.

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Functional excavating goes deep to address the local frost line, requiring a licensed professional to cut through hard caliche soil layers. These critical projects require engineered backfill, formal compaction testing, and official Cheyenne permits. Cosmetic excavating for garden beds stays in the top eighteen inches of soil and avoids these strict requirements. However, Wyoming stormwater rules require both project types to maintain proper drainage away from neighboring properties.

Helpful?

Prioritize corrective grading to ensure positive drainage away from your foundation. Cheyenne experiences intense summer storms, and poor grading over local clay soils causes severe basement moisture issues. You should also schedule excavating to fix sunken window wells and inspect your foundation perimeter for waterproofing damage. Always contact the Wyoming state utility notification system before digging to verify the exact location of underground lines on your new property.

Helpful?

Look for cracked slabs or shifted retaining walls, which occur when previous excavating ignores Cheyenne’s deep frost lines. You should also watch for sticking doors and recurring foundation settling caused by the expansive local clay soils. Check for water pooling, erosion channels, or sinkholes forming above old dig sites. High winds and heavy summer storms quickly expose poorly compacted backfill across WY properties.

Helpful?

You must schedule immediate excavating for active water intrusion, septic system failures, or severe erosion threatening your foundation. Address these hazards before the first Cheyenne hard freeze in early fall. You can delay cosmetic landscape grading or non-essential outbuilding projects until the optimal late May through September window. Any WY digging deeper than twelve inches becomes extremely difficult to complete once the ground freezes solid in November.

Helpful?

Completing functional excavating boosts your property value and resale appeal. Excavating a crawlspace to add a full basement increases your marketable square footage. Correcting drainage issues and grading problems gives buyers confidence and protects your foundation from expansive soils. Upgrading rural WY septic systems also prevents major real estate transaction delays. Always secure proper permits from Cheyenne officials to prove all work meets local building codes.
