"Egress Inc was friendly, pleasant and did a great job on the window.  It was one of the most seemless experiences I've had.  I would recommend Egress to anyone!

"We have replaced many windows in our home and notice a great difference in temperature regulation. The bidders were very professional and the installers were fantastic! The windows are in high demand and we ordered our windows months before winter. Luckily, they arrived and installed before the first big storm. Out heating bill has decreased, screens are almost invisible, and the windows are easy to open and close. We love our new windows!"

"Savana has been such an amazing person to talk to and receive information from about windows. We never knew there was so much that goes into a window and itâ s install and she gave us all her knowledge. We werenâ t sure if we wanted new windows yet but she made us feel so much better about getting them sooner. She has honestly been such an awesome person to talk to and spend 5 hours with! It wasnâ t all just about windows and bathtubs we got to know her and her company. Weâ re excited to have new windows for the winter and not learn what winter is like with 90 year old windows. And weâ re even more excited to be able to open our windows without them being painted shut!"

"Complete Basement Systems installed a Window Well Sump Pump for us. Although the weather was not cooperating, they went ahead and installed the Pump as intended and the Electrical was installed about a week later. Overall a top quality and professional job!"

Windows questions, answered by experts

The disadvantages of putting plastic over your windows are that they are time-consuming to install and don’t always have the aesthetic that you may be looking for. The plastic is lightweight and not at all sturdy, so if you have kids or pets, the plastic can rip easily, meaning you’ll need to replace it often. It also doesn’t allow for the freedom of window movement that window film or shades offer. The single advantage that plastic window coverings have is that they are inexpensive and can be simple to install.

In addition to protecting your home from costly storm damage, storm windows increase your home's value if you live in an area that’s prone to severe weather. Storm windows offer about an 80% return on investment (ROI). Therefore, if you install $10,000 worth of storm windows, you can expect to get around $8,000 back if you sell your home within a few years of installation. Additionally, highly hurricane-prone areas, like the Florida coast, offer even higher returns, with ROIs on storm windows reaching up to 86%.

There are several ways to reduce noise coming through your windows. You can seal gaps around the window frames with acoustic caulk or fresh weatherstripping to reduce noise and air leaks. Installing sound-dampening curtains, thick blinds, or shades can also help deaden sound vibrations. For an additional interior barrier, consider installing an acrylic or plexiglass sheet inside the window, which stifles sound while still allowing for outdoor views. Another strategy is to add external barriers, like dense shrubbery or a sturdy fence, to block neighborhood noises. If these methods are not effective enough, it might be time to install new noise-canceling windows.

Use a high-quality caulk with silicone around your windows, as it’s waterproof and shrink-proof. Or, you can use a caulk consisting of polyurethane or acrylic if you want to be able to paint over it. Caulk made from silicone is not paintable. Avoid using inexpensive caulk that has a resin or oil base. These caulks will not last long and may shrink and pull away from the window as temperatures go up and down.

You can add any type of window to a brick house, so long as the window has proper support. Windows with wider openings and windows in brick walls will need a lintel to support the extra weight above the window frame. A lintel is a support beam that distributes the weight from above evenly around the window.
