"Dave was very professional and prompt. He answered all of questions without hesitation which told us that he has been in the business for quite awhile. While some pressure washers, when used at lower settings, are ok to use on tires, we suggest proceeding with caution. While the high pressure alone won’t cause damage to your tires, pressure washers emit high-frequency pulsations that can damage the tires’ sidewall cords. Using a medium-bristle brush and soapy water is a better bet if you want to keep your tires in tip-top shape.

You could void your roof warranty using a power washer if you have a newer roof. With an older roof, you could knock loose older shingles. On the other hand, some people safely use a pressure washer to remove moss from a metal roof. Although you may want to use a pressure washer, the truth is that you probably don’t need it to knock moss loose. A garden hose and brush will do the job just fine and in a safer manner than a pressure washer.

Pressure washing pros use several factors to determine fence pressure washing costs—and one of the main factors they consider is the fence’s material. The material dictates the required PSI—which, in turn, affects the amount of labor needed for the job.

Contractors may also consider the number of gallons per minute (GPM) needed to pressure wash specific materials. GPM, which refers to the rate of water being released from a pressure washer, helps determine how long a job will take for specific fencing materials.

For pressure washing a driveway, a PSI (pounds per square inch) between 2,000 and 3,000 is recommended for both concrete and asphalt surfaces. A pressure of 3,000 PSI is ideal for deep cleaning without causing damage, effectively removing debris, dirt stains, and even oil spills. If your pressure washer has a lower PSI rating, you can still use it, but the cleaning process will take longer. For a more efficient and even clean, consider using a surface cleaner attachment.

While it can be a good idea to learn how to pressure wash brick to remove oils, algae, and debris from the surface, pressure washing isn't a good option for getting rid of white stains on brick. While you may get good temporary results, pressure washing can actually make efflorescence worse once the brick dries because the process pushes salt deeper into the brick. In addition, the intensity of pressure washing can damage brick.
