Small jobs welcome

"I am so impressed by the work of Joel at DaVinci Painting! First of all, he is exactly on time every day and his attention to detail is top notch. He repaired a wall after a cabinet removal with no patch visible after painting. He works so diligently and independently that you can almost forget he is even there. Also, he uses paint that has a very low odor so you can actually sleep in a room the same day. Very happy with his work and will definitely be using him again for some more interior painting projects!"

"The process went smoothly. Overall the painters were professional and careful in their approach to the job. We appreciated the added value of washing the windows, removing shutters to stain both sides. George was particularly helpful by staying in touch as the painting date neared. Many thanks, Rainbow Painting!"

"Dale Painting was OUTSTANDING! I'd hire them again in a millisecond. They prepared a highly detailed bid that addressed all of my issues and put me at ease. Their price was lower than 5 of 6 companies I had bid on the job. They expertly helped me pick out the final colors that made feel comfortable going forward. They emptied all kitchen cabinets and removed many wall hangings and put them back exactly where they came from! And last but not least the finished painting job of all walls and ceilings looked superb. Excellent paint coverage, perfectly straight lines when abutting the ceiling or cabinets...no overspill. No paint drops or microsplaters anywhere. They totally covered all furnishings in plastic and taped ground cloth paper that couldn't move to the floor...very impressive. And to top it off they left me the unused paint in each of the five colors in case I need to do touch-ups down the road. 110% satisfaction with every single aspect of the job."

"We highly recommend Five Star Painting! Everyone that we had contact with was professional, friendly, efficient, and responsive. We had ceilings and walls in 4 rooms and 3 hallways painted and they finished in 1.5 days. And it all looks so good! Very reasonable pricing. Meticulous work. We will definitely use them for any future painting needs."

"I would highly recommend Culver's Painting. Communication was excellent from start to finish so we knew what to expect and when. They painted our whole 3-story house and garage and finished very quickly. Any minor things we needed touched up were done immediately, and the crew that did the work was very pleasant and cleaned up so well. There was no mess left behind at all."

"This is a family business. I hired them to paint the exterior and interior of my house. They also stained a large deck, a sliding glass door, and new kitchen cabinets. They were competent, straightforward, and flexible with our schedule. I'll remember them the next time I need painting and staining work."

"Ramon and his crew did a fantastic job staining my deck and whitewashing the interior of my gazebo. In addition he pointed out other areas of the exterior of my home that needed attention which he also took care of. I plan on having Ramon come back to do some interior painting this fall after he completes his exterior jobs."

"Employees were very personable and did excellent work. It's the second time that they have either painted or stained for me and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I never even bothered to look for another company because I was so pleased the first time around."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

Your tool of choice ultimately comes down to personal preference. Many DIYers prefer applying stain with a lint-free rag, but others stick with a paint brush or a roller. Wipe the stain and work it into the wood, working with and against the grain. If you’re applying multiple coats, allow the stain to dry for around four hours between coats.

The best type of paint to use for chain link fences is an oil-based paint. Oil-based paints are durable and will withstand the elements well. Search for an oil-based paint with rust protection and aluminum flakes to further protect the longevity of the fence.

Shadowbox fence maintenance depends on the material. But for wood shadowbox fences, maintenance typically includes annual cleaning to prevent mold growth, resealing or staining every two to three years, and promptly replacing any damaged or rotted boards. Vinyl fencing, on the other hand, typically only requires annual cleaning with a hose to maintain its appearance.

The easiest way to stain a fence depends on your experience and comfort level with the project. Applying stain with an airless sprayer or pump sprayer might get the stain job done faster, but it can be tricky. Paint rollers and stain brushes are slower but simpler for a DIY project.
