"EXCELLENT. Needed this done ASAP with cold weather (and while we were out of town). Keith was super responsive - I trusted him with this install and defining the right equipment for us. VERY knowledgeable!! Team did GREAT work. Were super responsive to the one small complaint I had (didn't fill small hole in outside wall where AC piping went in, bummer for mice entry....). They offered to fix right away, but I had already. So far, very happy with American furnace that was installed!! Easy master controller to operate. Keith came over and reviewed equipment, install and operation as well as optimization points with us. VERY useful!!!!"

"We were pleased to work with Greg Mair who came to.our house the night of Jan17, 2024 after our 14 year old furnace died. He reviewed our entire system and made recommendations that fit our needs correctly. He arranged for a new furnace to be installed the next day and provided us with space heaters to be used until the work was completed. We will definitely call on Greg for any future needs."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

The average cost to replace or install a new HVAC system is around $7,500. However, the price can range from $5,000 to $12,500, depending on factors like the size of your home, the type and brand of the unit, and your specific heating and cooling needs. If you only need to replace certain components, the cost will be lower; for example, a new AC unit can cost between $2,200 and $5,500, while a new furnace costs $3,200 to $6,000. If additional work like new ductwork is required, the total cost could be as high as $22,000. It's best to contact a local HVAC company for an accurate quote.

If you have a closed-system boiler that requires an expansion tank, you cannot safely operate it without one, as this risks extensive damage or even explosions. You must find a way to make room for the installation. Options include repositioning the boiler, rerouting the boiler piping to a more open area, or performing minor remodeling to create the necessary space. If you are unsure whether your boiler needs an expansion tank or how to best accommodate one, it's recommended to have a local heating service professional assess the situation. They can confirm the requirement and suggest the most practical solution.

Heat pumps are significantly more efficient than boilers, typically providing three to four times the amount of heat for the electricity they consume. While boilers run on fossil fuels, heat pumps use only electricity. This efficiency can lead to long-term savings on operating and maintenance costs. However, heat pumps have a higher upfront installation price compared to boilers. Despite their lower efficiency, boilers remain a popular choice for many homeowners, with 8 million in the United States alone, due to their lower initial cost and less intensive installation process. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your home's infrastructure, your budget, and your personal heating priorities.

Chilled water HVAC systems use water instead of traditional components and refrigerants. They're more common in commercial settings than residential ones but are slowly being adopted by some homebuilders to cool homes. As the name implies, the system keeps the water chilled at 40 degrees and circulates it through water coils. The water absorbs the heat from your home and drains outdoors. Condo apartments are more likely to have chilled water HVAC than single-family homes because this system is designed to cool several rooms or large areas individually.

If you're often struggling with radiator issues like chilly spots, leaks, or annoying noises, those are common indications that your radiator may need to be replaced. Corrosion, uneven heating, and persistent hissing sounds are common issues as well. When repairs become a regular chore and your home’s energy bills start to rise, a new radiator will bring the comfort and savings you need.
