"EXCELLENT. Needed this done ASAP with cold weather (and while we were out of town). Keith was super responsive - I trusted him with this install and defining the right equipment for us. VERY knowledgeable!! Team did GREAT work. Were super responsive to the one small complaint I had (didn't fill small hole in outside wall where AC piping went in, bummer for mice entry....). They offered to fix right away, but I had already. So far, very happy with American furnace that was installed!! Easy master controller to operate. Keith came over and reviewed equipment, install and operation as well as optimization points with us. VERY useful!!!!"

"We were pleased to work with Greg Mair who came to.our house the night of Jan17, 2024 after our 14 year old furnace died. He reviewed our entire system and made recommendations that fit our needs correctly. He arranged for a new furnace to be installed the next day and provided us with space heaters to be used until the work was completed. We will definitely call on Greg for any future needs."

"Harker Heating And Cooling is the best HVAC contractor we have ever worked with in 40 years. Their web site proudly says they are an “honest company with Midwestern values.” That is absolutely true. Their representative provided in-depth advice, answered our questions. and returned our messages. Their techs were knowledgeable, professional, careful, and friendly. They were on time, on call, and on budget. The service they provided for us over the years could not be better. So when the time finally came to replace our old furnace and A/C we selected them. Unfortunately, they encountered many unexpected problems installing our new equipment. Many more than they had anticipated for the job. But their representative pledged to address every one of them no matter how hard it was for them or how much of their time it took. And that is exactly what they did. No quibbling and no questions. They got the job done right. If you want an honest family contractor who stands behind what they do, and lives by those Midwestern values, then this is the company to hire. You will be glad you did. Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

The cost of propane and related services varies depending on tank size and location but generally ranges from $500 to $2,500 for installation and initial fill.

Boilers are equipped with multiple safety features to ensure safe operation. These include pressure relief valves to prevent overpressure, temperature high-limit switches to avoid overheating, and flame failure safety devices in gas boilers to cut off the gas supply if the flame goes out unexpectedly. Low water cutoffs prevent operation with insufficient water levels, and pressure gauges help monitor pressure levels. Ventilation and flue systems prevent the buildup of harmful gasses. Boilers often feature error code systems for automatic shutdown during malfunctions and gas leak detection for safety. Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure these safety features function correctly.

You can replace baseboard heaters with many other types of HVAC systems, including forced-air furnaces, hydronic heating, and heat pumps. Each one has its advantages and disadvantages, so the best choice for you will depend on your budget, preferences, and the design of your house. If you aren’t sure which option is right for you, ask an HVAC pro for guidance.

In some cases, conversion kits are available, but not all boilers are compatible. Conversion may require significant modifications and should only be performed by a qualified professional. Before making a decision, compare conversion costs to the cost of a complete replacement to determine the most cost-effective and reliable option for your home.

When winter rolls around, and you turn the heat on for the first time in a year, it’s normal to sense a light odor. This could smell a little like burning because some dust has gathered in the heating unit over the warm months and will fade away shortly after. However, there are some smells you should watch out for and take caution around: an egg-like sulfur smell or an electrical burn odor would indicate there’s something wrong. Turn it off and call a professional for maintenance as soon as possible.
