"Nick is a direct communicator, returns calls, is an efficient and timely installer, uses e-technology for communication and billing if you like and his pricing is really fair. He provides quality work and is willing to come back if something isn't right, which he did when I suspected a problem with a ceiling fan; that was ultimately a product issue rather than an install problem. Nick knows his products and is willing to make recommendations. I recommended him to a local business that my wife works for and she told me he got the job done and the price was below the estimate. I certainly recommend that you give him a chance to bid on your project(s). I have worked with a number of local electricians and I prefer a smaller business like Nick Electric that appreciates my business. Tell him Jack sent you!"

"This is a truly great company. They provide great customer service and spend time explaining the details and answering questions. My husband obsessed about every single detail and could not deny that it was a no brainer. Our first electric bill since installing the panels was a CREDIT! I was not expecting that. If you have ever considered solar, seriously, just do it. Long term, you can not go wrong."

"In 2019 I bought an older home and hired ICRA Electric to rewire the entire home including upgrading the electric panel. Aaron Mattingly (owner) was referred to me by someone I trusted. I typically only use contractors by referral. Not only was his bid lower than the other bids I had received, he was very flexible with my schedule and accommodating with changes I made throughout the job without gouging me. Aaron also provided practical electrical suggestions for future needs that I wasn’t even thinking about and ensured everything I wanted was completed according to code. I have never done an online review in the past, but it is rare these days to find a contractor that is more about making sure you will be happy with the final product for years to come than getting as much money out of you as they can. There are many reputable contractors out there. The challenge is navigating through the others who don’t want to be found out. ICRA Electric is one of the good ones."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Electrical upgrades in Oregon offer immediate safety improvements, support for modern appliances, and better energy efficiency—helpful for managing heating demands. Over time, you’ll enjoy increased home value, potential insurance perks, and lower utility bills. Upgrading your breaker panel also prepares your home for solar, EV charging, and smart home features, all of which are becoming more popular in Oregon’s housing market.

Helpful?

For Oregon homes, copper wiring is ideal for withstanding temperature changes and humidity. Weather-resistant outlets and covers are crucial for outdoor use, while moisture-resistant panels work best in basements. Cold-rated cables are recommended for unheated spaces, and AFCI/GFCI breakers help meet local electrical safety codes. Choose LED-compatible dimmers and smart panels to support future upgrades and improve energy efficiency.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Oregon should factor in local permit and inspection requirements, as well as coordination with utility providers. The area’s clay soil can impact electrical grounding, and homes near lakes or flood zones need extra GFCI protection. Seasonal weather may delay outdoor projects, and older neighborhoods might have limited access to electricians or require special planning for breaker panel upgrades or outlet installation.

Helpful?

If you notice flickering lights, frequent breaker trips, warm or discolored outlets, or a burning odor in your Oregon home, these are clear signs of electrical issues. GFCI outlets that won’t reset or outdated aluminum wiring also indicate the need for a licensed electrician. However, if issues are isolated to heating, plumbing, or loose outlets from shifting clay soil, another specialist may be required.

Helpful?

In Oregon, using space heaters and holiday lights on the same outlet can easily overload circuits, especially during cold snaps. Leaving extension cords in place year-round, neglecting to test GFCI outlets in damp basements, and failing to protect outdoor outlets from snow and ice all increase electrical safety risks. Rodents can also damage wiring in attics or garages, causing hidden issues that may go unnoticed.
