There was a problem with the credit card reader so we provided a check for the service. But the credit card went through anyway. Locksmith mailed back our check and a receipt so very good follow-up. I would hire again."

Lubricating a door lock is an important part of door lock maintenance. It involves taking the lubricant of your choice (it’s best to use whatever the lock’s manufacturer suggests) and spraying it directly into the keyway. Newer, electric-powered door locks generally have a life span of five years or less. That’s thanks, in large part, to a phenomenon called planned obsolescence, in which products are programmed to need replacing after a certain amount of time. That’s also why older, manual, push-key locksets can last up to 30 years with regular cleanings and maintenance. When it does come time for a new set-up, know that the cost to change locks ranges from $130 to $500 on average.

Rekeying should be done when employees leave or keys are lost, while replacement may be necessary for outdated or damaged locks.

First, maintain composure and avoid forcing it further. Inspect the key to see if enough material remains exposed for extraction. Use pliers or tweezers to grasp and gently pull out the broken piece if possible. Lubricate the keyhole with a graphite-based spray to aid removal. If self-removal proves challenging or risks damaging the lock, seek a professional locksmith's assistance. They possess the necessary tools and expertise to extract the key without causing damage.

The cost to rekey locks on your home is $40 to $100 plus $15 to $40 per lock. Rekeying means you can keep your existing locks but simply change the key. You’ll still need a pro to cut a new key and rekey the lock, but no new hardware is required. Rekeying is a good option if:
