"Great. Although Jason didn't come on the day he stated ( mixup on someone's part), he did an excellent job sealing our driveway. He thoroughly cleaned cracks before filling them. We have tried other companies in the past but JC has by far done the best job."

"I HIGHLY recommend Alsonso Landscape Service. I received 4 quotes from area landscapers prior to selecting Alonso. Of the 4 they were the only ones to get my quote back to me within 24 hours and it was by far the most detailed. Even offering suggestions that I hadn't thought of to maximize my space. I couldn't be happier with the way the project turned out. Prices were fair and the team was very friendly."

"Bob and his crew were very professional, and I’m very pleased with my new driveway. They were very respectful of my lawn and left everything in good order. They paid close attention to the areas where the asphalt joined my existing concrete and stone planter."

"Tedroy removed the old sidewalk and prepared it well, using a kind of steel reinforcement bars (not regular highway rebars, which are heavier than necessary for a sidewalk, I think). I didn't see him pour the concrete, but he smoothed it out and shaped the edges nicely. Then he brushed it to improve winter traction."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

In Madison, professionals prioritize asphalt paving issues by first addressing safety hazards like major cracks. Next, they focus on correcting drainage to prevent ice damage from freeze-thaw cycles. Proper base preparation for Madison's clay soil is also critical, followed by scheduling within the limited paving season. High-traffic areas and compliance with city codes are also key considerations for a durable and safe surface.

Helpful?

A correctly completed asphalt paving job in Wisconsin will have a smooth, uniform surface with a 1-2% slope to manage precipitation and prevent ice. The asphalt should be 2-3 inches thick over a proper aggregate base. You should also see clean edge work and no premature cracking after the first winter. The work must have been done in dry weather above 50°F.

Helpful?

In Madison, contractors may specialize in residential driveway paving, commercial parking lots, or athletic surfaces. Some focus on maintenance services like sealcoating or asphalt repair, while others handle large-scale municipal projects. Choose a contractor with proven experience in Madison’s climate, proper insurance, and a track record of successful local projects. Ask about their approach to soil challenges and drainage solutions.

Helpful?

Asphalt paving in Madison benefits from sealcoating every 2–3 years and annual crack sealing before winter to prevent water infiltration. After spring thaw, inspect for potholes and address repairs quickly. Regularly clear debris from driveways and keep drainage paths open to avoid pooling. Proactive maintenance, including edge inspections and vegetation control, extends the lifespan of your asphalt surfaces.

Helpful?

Madison’s frequent freeze-thaw cycles and deep frost lines can lead to shifting or cracking in asphalt surfaces. To minimize issues, schedule paving between May and September when temperatures consistently exceed 50°F. Heavy spring rainfall may delay driveway paving or asphalt repair, so ensure proper drainage is planned. Using climate-adapted asphalt mixes helps pavement withstand temperature swings and moisture.
