"We contacted Matt to install an EV charger and a ceiling fan. Matt responded right away and scheduled an appointment. Matt showed up at the scheduled time and got right to work. We had previously had Oak Ridge do the electrical for our solar project. Both times work was done professionally. Oak Ridge will always be our preferred electrical contractor."

"The deal on Angie's list stated that wires would be "dressed." To me this means that the wires would be covered. There were wires sticking out all over and was extremely unsightly. I had to pay an additional fee to "dress the wires." When that was completed, it looked much much better. Unfortunately, the pictures below show how it looks now. Some wires are still exposed and the paint was chipped."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Completing electrical projects in La Crosse enhances comfort and safety by ensuring reliable power for modern appliances, efficient heating, and home offices—especially valuable during cold winters. Upgrading electrical wiring and panels also reduces fire risks and brings older homes up to current code. Improved lighting, added outlets, and safer circuit breakers make daily life more convenient and support the needs of growing families or remote workers.

Helpful?

In La Crosse, most electrical wiring or outlet installation projects are completed efficiently—panel upgrades usually take 1-2 days, while adding outlets or switches can be finished in a few hours. Whole-house rewiring may require 3-7 days, especially in older homes. Permit approval from local authorities typically adds 3-5 business days, and winter weather can extend timelines, so plan accordingly for seasonal delays.

Helpful?

La Crosse’s climate affects electrical projects in several ways. Winter’s cold and snow can delay outdoor electrical work and make trenching for underground wiring more difficult. Spring flooding, especially near the river, may require extra waterproofing for basement panels and wiring. Summer’s longer daylight hours are ideal for exterior installations, but high humidity means extra care is needed to prevent moisture damage to electrical components.

Helpful?

Common mistakes in La Crosse include skipping required permits, using indoor-rated electrical components outdoors, and neglecting moisture protection in flood-prone areas. In historic homes, partial updates instead of full rewiring can leave safety risks. Failing to coordinate with utilities for service upgrades or not planning around winter weather and spring flooding can also cause delays and increase the risk of electrical issues.

Helpful?

In La Crosse, you can safely tackle simple tasks like replacing light bulbs, testing GFCI outlets, resetting breakers, or swapping out outlet covers. Always shut off power at the breaker panel and confirm with a voltage tester before starting. For anything involving new electrical wiring, outdoor installations, or work in damp areas like basements, it’s safest to contact a licensed professional to avoid hazards.
