"Arrived on schedule. Went through the elimination process and determined problem was in the line to the pump or the pump itself (no water pressure). The service rep explained everything so that I understood fully what was going to happen. The pipe to the well motor was pulled up and a nickel sized hole was found in the pipe about 10 feet from the pump. The pipeline was galvanized metal and was very rusty. More holes were sure to develop; so, I had the whole line replaced. We also found the pump was 30 plus years old so, I had that replaced too. The service rep kept me informed through the entire installation process; as well as what to do after everything was completed. The pump had to be flushed with chlorine so, there is a short waiting process, tap flushing proceedure and water testing that he explained before leaving."

"Kitchen remodel. Matt was very responsive and easy to work with. He was very organized and was able to complete the job in 2 weeks. The issues we had were from the people he brought in. Electrical - did not clean up wood shavings from where he drilled in basement, and I had to fix electrical outlet that was improperly installed. Am now having issue with another outlet being tripped that never had that issue before. Plumbing - left the water running in the utility tub in the basement. Since I do not go in the basement often I did not catch it until the next day. Behind the stove were a bunch of wood shavings and parts. Overall we are very pleased with the final product."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Select materials built for the local climate. PEX tubing performs exceptionally well for supply lines during tough Franklin winters due to its flexibility under thermal stress. Copper remains an approved option, though moderate water hardness causes pinhole corrosion over time. Use PVC or ABS for drain systems. Install pipe insulation in unconditioned spaces to protect against single-digit temperatures.

Helpful?

Secure all necessary permits and hire a licensed professional before starting plumbing work. Call the required utility notification service at least three business days before any exterior trenching. Locate your main water shutoff and confirm it operates properly. Avoid scheduling major exterior excavation in WI during the winter months, as frozen ground significantly increases labor time and project complexity.

Helpful?

Local permit rules dictate project timelines. Permitted plumbing work in Franklin requires scheduled inspections, creating multi-visit timelines. Older homes with galvanized steel or cast iron pipes reveal hidden deterioration once opened, expanding the project scope. Additionally, harsh winter freezes and spring thaws create high demand for emergency repairs, which extends scheduling windows for non-emergency work.

Helpful?

Severe winter temperatures create significant freeze risks for pipes in exterior walls, garages, and sump pump discharge lines. Spring thaws combined with clay-heavy soils elevate groundwater levels, stressing basement floor drains and sewer laterals. High summer humidity causes condensation on cold water lines. Schedule exterior plumbing in Franklin between late May and September when the ground is fully thawed.

Helpful?

Assess your home's age and soil conditions. Pre-1980s homes in WI feature galvanized steel or brittle cast iron pipes that require full replacement during upgrades. Newer homes have modern copper or PVC systems, making additions straightforward. For exterior plumbing, heavy clay soils shift and stress underground lines. Verify your connection to municipal sewer or private septic systems before starting.
