"Called company on Monday and got an appointment for an inspection on Wednesday. That following Monday, the technician arrived and went through each step is sealing off the concrete foundation to the water leak. The fix worked well and was put to the test with the recent record rains. Not one drop of water came into the basement."

"Project: Radon Mitigation Jordan explained what was being done for the project. He was very thorough in making sure the crawl space would be sealed and vacuum was proper in the crawl and basement. I would recommend Gardner Environmental to anyone needing Radon mitigation work."

Customers say: Quality work

"Very pleased with the prompt, friendly service. Very efficient and told me exactly what had to be done and what it would cost in advance. The old, limed up water heater had to be a bear to haul up and out of the basement. It gives me peace of mind knowing that the appliance was installed correctly by an experienced plummer and that it will last for many years to come."

"We purchased our home and the previous owners had Everdry Waterproofing perform work to stabilize the basement walls and waterproof. We have owned our home for 5 years and couldn't be happier with the work that was performed as well as how easy it was to transfer the lifetime service agreement from the previous owner to us. I would definitely recommend this company! Great work!"

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

The primary reason homes have crawl spaces is so the foundation can reach down below the frost line to avoid dangerous soil movement and structural damage when the ground freezes. They’re more popular in colder climates where the ground freezes down to a few feet, and slabs are most popular in warmer areas where there is no frost line. Crawl spaces also provide a space for utility lines to run where they’re at less of a risk of freezing.

A crawl space can be as little as 42 inches below the grade of your house, but this is not always recommended in flood-prone areas. At a minimum, there must be at least 16 inches of clearance between the ground and the floor joists to access the space in an emergency.

Whether your homeowners insurance covers slab leak repairs depends on your specific policy and the cause of the leak. Many policies cover slab leaks resulting from a covered peril, such as a natural disaster, a falling tree, or pipes freezing and bursting within the slab. However, damage caused by invading tree roots, corrosion, or leaks from appliances may not be covered by a standard policy. It's a good idea to also check your home warranty plan for potential coverage if an appliance is the source. Contact your insurance provider for a full explanation of what your policy covers.

Interlocking garage tiles made with PVC are the most effective for garages with past issues of humidity and flooding because damp concrete is not suitable for paint. Epoxy coating is also water-resistant and can prevent mold buildup. Finally, porcelain tiles are a wonderful option for wet conditions if your budget allows.

Yes, the air from a damp basement can travel up into your living area through a process called the stack effect, so moisture, mold spores, and other debris in your basement air can all decrease your indoor air quality on your main floors. Additionally, damp basements can promote the rotting of building materials, which can damage flooring, insulation, and framing on your first floor in addition to materials in the basement.
