"A fantastic service was provided by Near Me Roofing Company. Ari was always prompt and extremely organised in providing information, tile samples and quotes for my new roof installation. He made the whole process easy to understand and provided an excellent solution to an issue I was having with my guttering. I highly recommend his services."

"Communication was a problem all along. At contract signing, I told the salesman we could have the job done any time except for one particular week when we'd be out of town. Got an email from the office several days later telling us they would be starting the job the very week we'd be gone. After a phone call and some more email exchanges, we were given a better starting date. On the first day, the waste container was dropped off and the roofing materials delivered in the morning. Not having seen any roofers, we called at 2 pm to find out if they were planning to show up. Two workers appeared around 3 pm and began to tear off the old roof. On the second day, the whole crew started in the morning and worked into the evening to finish installing the new roof. The general terms of the roofing contract stated that the company always used plywood under the waste container to protect the driveway. So we were dismayed to find out no plywood had been used, resulting in two long lines of broken stones in the aggregate concrete of the driveway. I had a chance to get up on the roof the next day and was disappointed to find the new box vents had not been installed at equal spacing from each other; moreover, they were not installed along the same horizontal line, as seen in the first attached photo. There were also no screens in the two new bathroom flapper vents. We emailed the salesman about the problems and heard nothing back; two days later we received the bill and emailed the office to remind the salesman to respond. A week later we emailed the office again to ask when someone would respond about the repairs. Two days later the company owner called to say he would have someone out by the following week to fix the problems. After almost four weeks with no communication from the company, we left a phone message asking when this job would be finished. The next day, the owner called and said someone would be out around 2 pm that afternoon. No one showed. The next day we called at 10:15 am to demand top priority for getting our roof properly completed. Finally, two roofers came out around noon for a few hours to work on the vents. I went up the next day and found all the box vents lined up, but no change in the uneven spacing (124, 69, 72, 72, and 79 inches apart). One flapper vent screen had been perfectly installed and another was cut a little short, leaving a bird-sized hole. Getting irritated at the lack of attention to detail, I looked over the entire roof once more and noticed whole rows of shingles which were laid out in curves instead of straight lines (see the second attached photo). Clearly there was at least one member of the roofing crew who operated without adequate supervision. We sent in our remaining complaints to the company but have gotten no response. After ten days, we decided to pay the bill rather than face another month of slow communication and the diminishing returns of imperfect re-work and more foot traffic on the new roof. I hope these were random occurrences of sloppiness and not signs of a general bad attitude toward doing the job right. Guess I’ll find out when the rains return."

"Window and roof cleaning service was great, and they started and finished the job ahead of schedule. Office was very unprofessional when I requested to use an Angie's List coupon that is still available online. Home Team denied the request. I indicated this would be reflected in my reviews, and one representative told me it would be honored. A later email response said they would not and that it is the responsibility of the customer to inquire about coupon validity before scheduling a job. I do not really agree. Ultimately, the work was still great. [*** Link removed ***]"

"Fantastic! Hector was flat out excellent. He came to my house to take a load of things to the dump. The negotiated price was based on a pile of stuff on the side of the house. When I asked if he would be willing to take a mattress and box spring that were downstairs as well, he happily agreed for a very reasonable additional fee. He even helped carry them out of the basement! His communication was excellent and honest, and he was punctual. I will definitively be calling him again next time I have need of his services.  Added bonus: his super cute daughter was in the truck while he loaded it, and she is a ray of sunshine that brightened out day :-)"

Waste Removal Services questions, answered by experts

Aerosol cans that are not empty generally are not recyclable, and you’ll need to separate them from recyclable, empty cans. This rule varies by location, so you’ll need to contact your local sanitation department to find out whether you can put these items in the recycling bin or if you must take them to a disposal facility. In most cases, aerosol cans that aren’t completely empty are considered hazardous waste and require special disposal practices.

The most affordable way to get rid of junk often involves a do-it-yourself approach, especially if you don't have a large amount of debris. Start by sorting your items into categories: donate, recycle, sell, or trash.

  • Donate or Sell: Usable goods can be donated to local charities. You can also list items for free or for a low price on platforms like Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

  • Use Municipal Services: Your city's regular garbage collection or bulk pickup days can be the cheapest option. However, be sure to check community guidelines for quantity limits and accepted materials. You can also take recyclables to a city drop-off center.

  • Haul it Yourself: If you have a truck or suitable vehicle, loading the junk and taking it to a local transfer station, public dump, or waste disposal facility is a very cost-effective method.

If a DIY approach isn't possible, consider these options:

  • Rent a Dumpster: You can rent a dumpster, fill it yourself, and the rental company will haul it away. This is a good middle-ground if you can do the labor but don't have a vehicle for transport.

  • Hire a Junk Removal Service: While typically the most expensive choice, hiring a professional junk removal team is the most time-efficient and requires the least effort from you. This is a good solution if your city's services won't accept the items or if you are unable to move them yourself.

Leaf removal isn’t usually necessary, and in fact, leaving leaves where they fall or mulching them instead can provide nutrients to your soil that can be good for your lawn and garden beds. Most homeowners prefer the look of a lawn that is neat and clean, though, so the majority of people prefer to pay for leaf removal. There are some cases where you might have to pay for leaf removal, like if you live in a strict homeowners association that mandates the service or a generally clean lawn.

Yes, concrete is recyclable, but you can’t just drop it off at a traditional recycling center. Most major cities have specific concrete recycling centers that will accept your concrete disposal and break it down using industrial equipment. Recycled concrete can be used to create environmentally sustainable items like gabion walls to protect shorelines.

Most municipal or waste management companies do not allow you to put out a refrigerator for regular trash pickup. You can, however, call your waste management company and ask about the proper steps for “special” or bulk pickup (if it’s offered) or information about local community programs offering refrigerator recycling.
