"I had a breaker problem that was turning off the power to half my home in Bothell. Switch Electric responded promptly to my call for help & the very nice young man who came to my home was extremely knowledgeable, thorough & systematic in his approach to identify the problem. I highly recommend Switch Electric. The two young men who assisted me in rectifying the breaker problem were great. Anyone who wants high level expertise in electrical matters, prompt response & excellent communication skills, hire Switch Electric for your electrical needs."

"I have had the pleasure of working with Smart Electric for a couple years now. I am a Project Manager for a Custom Home Builder and this company has it dialed in! Joe is amazing to work with. He excels in putting together bids quickly, being very communicative, and is always very professional. They also have an all-star crew. Jason and Keith are some of the best electrical leads I have worked with. They always have a great attitude onsite. Also a shout out to the office staff Sammy & Molly are great to work with. They are always on top of scheduling inspections and communicating updates with me. Highly recommend Smart Electric!"

"Mike and his team did a great job upgrade our electrical panel from 100A to 200A. They did a great job and we appreciate their work and effort. Mike is kind, professional and always willing to help. He has answered me lots of questions and make adjustments based on my request. The process goes smoothly and inspection passed without any doubt. And their price is the best (among the 3 companies I quote)! Would highly recommended them for anyone needs a panel upgrade or electrical work."

"Our home had inadequate electric service. McCarthy Electric provided a bid to install 200 amp service to support our growing needs. My interactions with their team has been the most satisfying experience I have had with a service provider. The service was upgraded per the bid with no drama, in a timely fashion. I was kept informed of important developments in a courteous and professional manner. I will be a return customer for any future electrical needs."

"The guys from In-House Electric were able to fix the shoddy work I had received from another company years ago. I finally have outside sockets that should work for years to come under Notthwest weather conditions."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Edmonds, electrical projects vary in duration based on complexity. Panel upgrades typically require 1–3 days, while whole-house rewiring may take 3–7 days. Smaller tasks like outlet or switch installation are often finished within hours. Permit reviews and inspections generally add 2–5 business days. Weather delays, especially during rainy seasons, can extend timelines for outdoor electrical work in Edmonds.

Helpful?

In Edmonds, homes built between the 1950s and 1970s may have outdated wiring, such as knob-and-tube or aluminum, and layouts like split-levels or concrete basements that complicate electrical work. Limited attic access, multiple additions, or visible old wiring are signs of potential challenges. Scheduling a professional electrical inspection in Edmonds helps identify structural or wiring issues before starting major upgrades or rewiring projects.

Helpful?

Edmonds’ frequent rain and damp conditions can delay outdoor electrical projects, particularly from fall through early spring. Moisture increases the risk of corrosion, making weatherproof outlets, GFCI protection, and surge protectors essential for exterior and basement wiring. Using corrosion-resistant materials and ensuring all connections are properly sealed and grounded helps electrical systems in Edmonds withstand the local climate’s unique challenges.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Edmonds should begin with a thorough electrical inspection, especially in homes built before 1980. Upgrading to GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and basements is crucial for safety. Assessing the electrical panel’s capacity is important, as many older homes need upgrades for modern appliances. Installing hardwired smoke detectors and adding dedicated appliance circuits also align with Edmonds’ best practices for home electrical safety.

Helpful?

When hiring electrical pros in Edmonds, prioritize those with proven experience handling local wiring standards and permit requirements. Choose contractors with comprehensive insurance and a strong reputation for quality work in Edmonds. Ask for recent local project references, review feedback on trusted platforms, and be cautious of unusually low bids or requests for cash-only payment to ensure your project meets Edmonds’ electrical safety standards.
