"In our three bedrooms, Switch Electric installed new electrical ceiling boxes, appropriate controls, and ceiling fans (with lights). We also had them convert three outlets from being switched to unswitched. Also, in one room, we had them add a dimmer and a track lighting ceiling box. (We then installed the track lighting ourselves.) Additionally, per Redmond electrical code, then install arc-fault protection. The work required working in the attics. We supplied the fan/lights (from Seattle Lighting in Bellevue). They charged no dispatch fee and were in the middle on price compared to two other estimates. They were also the only one to include the legally required Redmond electrical inspection. On the workday, they arrived with a team of three in the morning. Their work was professional and neat. We noticed two small problems caused by miscommunications. They cheerfully come back for an hour and fixed the problems. The work passed Redmond inspectional easily. We love the fans and the lights and highly recommend Switch Electric."

"I have had the pleasure of working with Smart Electric for a couple years now. I am a Project Manager for a Custom Home Builder and this company has it dialed in! Joe is amazing to work with. He excels in putting together bids quickly, being very communicative, and is always very professional. They also have an all-star crew. Jason and Keith are some of the best electrical leads I have worked with. They always have a great attitude onsite. Also a shout out to the office staff Sammy & Molly are great to work with. They are always on top of scheduling inspections and communicating updates with me. Highly recommend Smart Electric!"

"I have used MIke and the folks from his company on a number of prior electrical jobs as I upgrade the electrical work in my old condominium unit. MIke and his associates have always done a great job (prompt, timely completion, clear communication before hand and great job at a reasonable price). Would use them again."

Small jobs welcome

"Our home had inadequate electric service. McCarthy Electric provided a bid to install 200 amp service to support our growing needs. My interactions with their team has been the most satisfying experience I have had with a service provider. The service was upgraded per the bid with no drama, in a timely fashion. I was kept informed of important developments in a courteous and professional manner. I will be a return customer for any future electrical needs."

"We had In-House Electrical replace/upgrade our main panel as well as setup a generator hook-up and A/C outlet outside. Adam and Avery were phenomenal - they were thorough, kept in constant communication with me during the project to ensure things were being done as I liked, and left the place looking better than when they showed up. They'll be my first call in the future for any electrical work I need done."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Electrical project timelines in Snohomish vary by scope. Service panel upgrades typically take 4–6 weeks due to planning, utility coordination, and inspections. Whole-home rewiring usually requires 3–10 days, plus permit processing time. Installing an EV charging station is faster, but weather and contractor availability can extend timelines, especially during peak construction seasons or around holidays. Planning ahead helps keep your project on schedule.

Helpful?

In Snohomish, flickering lights, persistent burning odors, or frequent breaker trips often signal electrical issues. Moisture-related corrosion and rodent-damaged wiring are common in the area and should be checked for. If you notice power loss throughout your home, it’s likely electrical, but if only one appliance or your heating system is affected, it may be a different repair. When unsure, a local expert can help diagnose the issue.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Snohomish, start by preparing detailed plans and accurate load calculations to streamline the permit process. Schedule inspections early, as local demand can cause delays. Coordinate with your utility provider if a service upgrade is needed. Always account for potential weather interruptions, especially during rainy months, and ensure your project meets Washington State Electrical Code, including GFCI and AFCI protection where required.

Helpful?

Combining electrical work with upgrades like insulation, HVAC improvements, or installing an EV charging station can be efficient in Snohomish. Bundling projects such as a panel upgrade with a heat pump installation may qualify you for local incentives or rebates. Scheduling these together, especially before the wet season, reduces permit hassles and minimizes disruption from multiple contractor visits, making the overall process smoother.

Helpful?

In Snohomish, you can safely replace light fixtures, outlets, or switches on existing circuits if you turn off the breaker and double-check for moisture first. Always wear rubber-soled shoes and use a non-contact voltage tester for added safety. For outdoor electrical work, panel upgrades, or if you discover aluminum wiring—common in older homes—stop and contact a professional to avoid safety risks.
