"We hired Roads Paving to replace our aging, 1200 square foot asphalt driveway. Their bid was lower than a competitor. The driveway is tightly compacted, smooth, and looks great. The work only took around 4 hours from start to finish, including removing the existing asphalt and sub-base. Norm, his crew, and office staff were extremely courteous and helpful throughout the entire process."

"Shoreline did a great job. Keith and his crew performed great and cleaned up after themselves every day.  They were very professional and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who has a need for concrete work.

"

We called in Universal Landscape to clean up the front of our house as it looked frumpy. Randy gave us an estimate a day or so later and we agreed. Randy removed all the dirt and concrete in the front of the house.  He found that the front of our house structure was rotten.  Apparently the home builder did not put anything between the concrete and the house, so it rotted.  The large beams in the front were sitting in wrought iron boxes with no place for water to flow, the cedar beams were rotten.  Randy waited until we could get a look and make some decisions as this was going to cost a lot more than we had budgeted for.  But what can you do if your house structure is rotting?  He contacted a framing guy (Mike from Master Works Construction-great job).  The framers removed all the rotten wood, replaced it with treated wood and covered it properly.  Randy cut the rot from the cedar beams and then hand made steel supports(amazing job too!) and poured cement supports under the beams, as there were none to begin with (such a crappy building job by home builder!!!).  He then called in his guy to pour the cement.  Universal Landscape should be the only one you need to call for any landscape needs.  Very honest and hard working.  That is hard to find in todays work place.  You will not be sorry hiring this guy.

"This is the 2nd time we have had Center C Construction do work at our house and they did an amazing job. They matched our existing driveway perfectly for our driveway extension. They were also able to take my idea of a front walkway and turn it into a better reality. The walkway included having to re-design my steps and access into my house. The work is beautiful and if I ever need concrete work done again I 100% will return back to this company. We have had numerous neighbors stop by and compliment our brand new front yard layout."

"We had Unique Landscaping create a gravel parking area at the front of our home that connects seamlessly to our driveway, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. From the start, they were incredibly responsive and easy to work with. The entire job was completed in just a few hours, which was impressive given how well it turned out. The pricing was very affordable, especially for the quality of work provided. Most importantly, the new parking spot functions perfectly—my daughter is able to park her car there without any issues at all. The area looks great and blends nicely with the rest of our property. We are so very happy with the outcome and would absolutely recommend Unique Landscaping to anyone looking for efficient, affordable, and professional work"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

The decision to repair or replace your driveway depends on the extent of the damage. If your driveway has a few small cracks, a simple repair will do the trick. If you see larger cracks and potholes, it may be time to consider resurfacing or replacement. Resurfacing is a great option if more than 25% of the surface is damaged, but if the damage is extensive—deep cracks or significant sinking—it’s best to replace the driveway entirely. A new driveway, with proper care, can last decades while patching or resurfacing might only hold up for a few years before needing more attention.

New asphalt goes through two stages: drying and curing. Drying typically takes 24 to 72 hours, after which the surface is solid enough for light use like walking or careful driving. While you may be able to park on it after 72 hours, the surface is still soft and should be treated gently. Full curing is a much longer process, taking anywhere from 30 days to a full year for the asphalt to reach maximum strength. During this extended curing period, the asphalt is susceptible to damage from heavy vehicles, sharp objects, and high temperatures. Factors like weather, the specific asphalt mix, and application thickness all influence drying and curing times. For the most accurate timeline and to ensure the longevity of your new asphalt, it is always best to consult with your installation contractor for their specific recommendations.

Wet cutting is usually the preferred method. It controls dust, which helps protect your lungs and makes for a cleaner working environment. Plus, the water cools the blade, preventing overheating and prolonging its life while providing smoother, more precise cuts. The downside is the mess—water and asphalt sludge can be messy to clean. Dry cutting, though convenient if water isn’t available, creates a lot of dust, which can be harmful. This also increases the risk of blade damage due to overheating. So, if you have the option, wet cutting is the better method for most asphalt jobs.

To maintain their strength, asphalt driveways and parking lots need to be sealcoated once every two to five years. You may also need to reapply paint striping every few years as it fades to ensure drivers can safely navigate the parking lot.

Sealing coat asphalt after 6-12 months and then every 2-3 years is recommended.
