"Vic Steiner is honest, experienced, meticulous yet practical. He is a problem solver and his skills are many. He has worked on numerous projects for us, all of which have been done to high standards. He approaches each project as if it were for his own home. Here are some of the projects he has accomplished for us, or for close neighbors: kitchen remodel, bath remodel, flooring (both installation and refinishing) , basement renovation, outdoor work (decking, outdoor lighting, fencing, brickwork, paths). He generally works alone, and if a project is too ambitious for him (it rarely is) he will honestly decline it. He avoids traffic by arriving mid morning and leaving later in the day than most contractors. We give him our very strongest recommendation."

"Ryan replaced 160 feet of cedar fence that bordered two neighbors for us. The whole job took 3 days, and these weren't the most straightforward installations, as he had to deal with differing grades, rockeries, and challenging landscaping. He came up with options that worked great and we love the finished product, so much better than what was there. His communication was excellent as we talked about the project all the way through completion. Highly recommend."

"I don't even think I need to add words for you to see how happy I am with this project. I mean just look at it!! I had a vague vision of what I wanted and Matthew from Rainier Ridge made it a reality. I have nothing bad to say about the outcome or the overall experience. I cant go outside now without everyone who passes telling me how amazing it looks. About a year ago I contacted a few contractors for just the deck and it was almost the same price for all of this. My father was a construction foreman with the Seattle Union most of his life so of course he had to check out the work after and he said the work was amazing. Matt also knew I didn't know much about construction but made sure I was always in the loop and understood what they were doing and why. If there was a change or recommendation he would ask and detail the extra charges if I wanted to but never pressured me. New projects like this can be so intimidating but it honestly couldn't have gone any better or easier."

"Excellent. Hard working crew that wanted to do good work. Asked lots of questions that indicated concern for pleasing me as their customer."

Customers say: Quality work

"Tim and his crew were very efficient and did such a quality job. It is always nice when you get to work with someone who specializes in their industry's knowledge, and gives you all of the options without being pushy. I would highly recommend them! We were also working with a portion of the job that was shared with a neighbor, and getting the quotes split up for that was very easy."

Gazebos questions, answered by experts

Porticos last 25 to 60 years, depending on the material used. A portico’s roof typically matches the roof of the rest of the home and can be replaced simultaneously. Portico columns have a similar life span if properly maintained and regularly sealed. In some areas, harsh weather and extreme temperatures may cause a portico to wear more quickly.

To make the gazebo accessible, you can build a wheelchair pathway leading up to it. The path should be paved with a smooth surface for wheelchairs to roll through. A low curb should be placed along each side to ensure the wheelchair stays on the path. At the end of the path, build a wheelchair ramp connecting the gazebo.

Clean regularly, seal wood surfaces, and inspect for damage or rust to ensure longevity and safety.

The average cost to build or install a gazebo is around $5,700, with prices typically ranging from $3,000 to $10,000. The final cost depends on several factors, including the gazebo's size, shape, material, and design complexity. For example, square gazebos and those made from metal can be more expensive, while brick is a more affordable material. Adding custom features like built-in seating or lighting will also increase the price. You can potentially save money by purchasing a prefabricated kit or performing some of the labor yourself.

Using concrete footers is the best way to secure a gazebo on a deck without drilling. The weight of the footers is more likely to hold your gazebo in place than other methods. You can also pour concrete into flower pots to create an aesthetically pleasing concrete footer or use concrete columns to make a statement.
