"They did a great job. Fabi reached out over text, I sent some pictures and they were able to give me a very reasonable quote for the fix. When we hired them they were able to come the next business day. The texted to confirm the address in the morning and showed up on time. The fence was fixed in just 3 hours and their quote was very close to accurate, which we always appreciate. The fence looks excellent, they event worked around a neighbor’s tree and stump to get the job done. If we need more fence repair we will definitely be calling again!"

"Sam replaced 60 ft of fencing for us. His price was reasonable, he used quality materials, showed up when he said he would, and he did a great job! The fence looks beautiful. Definitely recommend!"

"OMG I love my new fence, they came when they said they would. They did the work, cleaned up all the mess and I am so excited to allow my large breed dog outside now. Not to worry if the kids next door will tease or bother me or my dog again. 6 feet high and privacy slates is the way to go, I am bragging to everyone I know, LOVE LOVE LOVE my fence and the price was prefect. Thank you, Duke for doing such a wonderful job. I will call you again if I need to upgrade my chainlink."

"I recently contacted HELLO Painting for a small project in a hard to reach spot on my house. It essentially entailed caulking a seam between my siding and soffit and painting the soffit on a high peak that sits above my metal roofed/steeply pitched garage. HELLO's office staff was extremely professional and Miro, the rep they sent out for a quote, listened closely to all of our questions and concerns and sent us a project proposal that was accurate and complete and incorporated everything we had asked for. After we accepted the proposal, scheduling happened quickly and communication about what to expect as the work progressed was excellent. The work crew was friendly and efficient (they were so fast I honestly don't even know how they reached the area that needed to be painted because they were there and gone in under an hour the first day and under 30 minutes the second). I had a question about the project after the first day and it was promptly answered via email and the work crew came back the second day and completed the work. The work itself was good but not quite as high quality as some previous caulking/soffit painting we had done by a different independent contractor. Everything was sealed up and the paint looked good, but the caulk line was a bit rough. This is not noticeable from a distance, but can be seen when I look at the area with my telephoto camera lens. It is minor and purely aesthetic, but noteworthy. Of the four bids I received for this job, HELLO's bid came in as the second lowest and it was their excellent communication, accurate and thorough project proposal, and general professionalism that caused us to choose them."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

This depends mainly on how well the posts were installed and what type of wood was used to build the gate in the first place. Softwoods have a life expectancy of up to 15 years but can last slightly longer with regular maintenance and waterproofing treatments. By contrast, hardwoods can last up to 30 years with little care, so you may avoid costly replacements by spending a little more upfront.

Most people prefer to keep the fence level by “stepping” the fence when running a horizontal fence over a slope. Stepping involves raising each panel between the posts as the fence moves over changes in slope, giving the fence line the appearance of stair steps. While this may be the preferred method of running a horizontal fence up a slope, there’s nothing wrong with installing your fence so it follows the undulations in the ground instead.

Green branches are more flexible and easier to work with, but they'll shrink as they dry, which can loosen your fence weave over time—so you'll need to weave them extra tight to account for shrinkage. Some species, particularly willow, may also try to sprout when used green. For these reasons, it’s typically easiest to use branches that have dried for a week or two.

A setback is an area of space between your fence and the property line, meaning you build a fence a few inches before your neighbor’s property begins. You can build your fence on a setback—some communities recommend this—but this means a sliver of your property will be on your neighbor’s side of your fence.

Moisture and rot are the largest threat to wooden fences. Stain can help your wood fence last 15 to 20 years, but only if you choose a stain with waterproofing qualities or add a sealant. Oil-based stains create a thicker moisture barrier than water-based stains, though both are mold and mildew resistant. You’ll generally need to re-stain your fence every one to eight years to get full protection.
