"Jaman was professional, courteous and got things done quickly. He exceeded expectations! We had a toilet that needed a new seal. He assessed the situation, quoted and did the work. He went above and beyond to level things given our uneven concrete floor so that the problem won’t reoccur, all the while keeping us informed and explaining what was needed. Thank you and huge thumbs up!!"

"I love these guys and they will be my go-to for any work they do in the future. I replaced a toilet myself but still had some issues with water leakage. They looked things over a d verified I did the toilet replacement correct but were able to identify the leak and help me address it."

"I submitted my request on a Sunday for a clogged toiled and they had someone scheduled for the same day in the evening. I appreciated how professional the admin was and how quickly she could get someone in to fix my issue. John S. Came in the evening and he was very professional, friendly, and helpful! He checked out my toilet, talked through things I’ve tried to do to fix it before he came in, diagnosed it and shared what he thinks is happening and other possibilities, and we talked through the price before he went in to fix it. Unfortunately what we were hoping was an easy fix wasn’t and he had to change the diagnosis and update the cost. Luckily this next diagnosis was correct and he was able to unclog the toilet! There was a small plastic cup blocking the toilet hole and he was able to take it out after pulling the toilet. He put everything back and cleaned the area. I really appreciated his help and he shared some tips to help keep things running smooth. John was great and I highly recommend him!!"

"We were charged 350.00 to install a toilet.. not remove and replace, but just put the toilet on the flange, screw on two nuts and screw on the water supply.. took about 10 minutes.. The young man was professional, prompt, and was great... but 350.00..?? Overcharged in my opinion..."

"Our daughter flushed apple slices down the toilet and we explained the reason for the call we told they would come out today but there was a $289 service call to have them come out. Andrew was early, wore a mask and fixed the issue in literally 10 minutes. The issue I have is paying $289 for a service call plus $139 for them to snake the toilet. I had a $50 off coupon from previous work so my total was $403. I’m sorry but the hourly rate is insane for the work that was completed."

"If the plumber tells you that you need a new toilet. Buy it from Home Depot and have it delivered. This plumber charged me $200 above the cost of the toilet and he bought it from Hone Depot! Just pay for the installation. I wasn't too happy about the overcharge. I did appreciate that they returned after the new toilet wasnt working and showed up to unclog it and show us how to the new toilet works and how to flush it properly."

"Zach with Knock out Pluming a Seattle based company was great to work with! He did not try to "over sell" the two items that needed replacing. the toilet had a crack and the water heater had burst and it was a Sunday. I was frantically cleaning up water when Zach arrived on the scene. He not only fixed the problem right away but kindly helped me with the clean up. He came back the following day with the new water heater and toilet that did not break the bank! He was efficient, knowledgable regarding the best products to suit my needs. I highly recommend this company."

"A small leak developed around the newly installed toilet. Tim Smith came back 3 times, but each time the tiny leak reappeared weeks later. Finally the toilet was replaced. Tim is fabulous even though he had to be frustrated. He tells us that he has never seen one of these toilets fail before. We strongly recommend Hartâ  s Services for standing behind their products!"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

The toilet should rest 10, 12, or 14 inches from the back wall. As for other clearances, 15 inches is the minimum distance from the flange to any side wall or nearby fixture, including the shower, tub, and sink. Modern codes also require at least 24 inches of clear space in front of the toilet.

Yes, you can install a basement bathroom without breaking concrete by using an upflush toilet system, which includes a macerator pump. These systems sit on top of the concrete floor, so you don't have to drill into it to install plumbing. The macerator pump breaks up waste until it is soft enough to pass through a discharge pipe to the main sewage line. This method saves you time and money by bypassing the need to break concrete to connect drain pipes.

The Thanksgiving holiday period is one of the busiest times of the year for plumbers. Both Thanksgiving Day and the day after, often called Black Friday or "Brown Friday" by plumbing professionals, see a significant increase in service requests. This is because a house full of guests, large holiday meals, and unfamiliarity with the home's plumbing can lead to clogged drains, garbage disposal issues, and sewer line backups. Outside of the holidays, the busiest weekdays for plumbers are typically Monday and Tuesday, as many people discover plumbing problems over the weekend but wait to call for service. Despite the holiday, you can rest assured that many plumbers work on Thanksgiving and Black Friday to handle the surge in emergency calls.

In most cases, it’s better to repair a toilet than to replace it. Fixing issues like low water levels, running water, and flushing problems is less expensive than buying a new unit. Start thinking about replacement if the toilet is cracked, using excessive amounts of water, or is over 15 years old. Newer models are more water-efficient and clog less often than older models.

While technically possible, it is unlikely that a clogged toilet will fix itself. Clogs caused by water-soluble materials like toilet paper or human waste may eventually break down in the water, allowing flow to resume. However, this can take time, and any clogs from solid objects require manual removal. In most scenarios, especially if you don't have another bathroom, it is best to fix the clog yourself or call a plumber.
