"Joe at Northwest Rain Carpet/Upholstery Cleaning did an exceptional job on our carpets. They are light colored, and his attention to detail and hard work brought them back to life! He even got out a pet stain that had been a while. Five stars are not enough. We will definitely call this company for our future carpet cleaning services."

"I was very happy with the results of my clean carpet. I could tell a dog had been in my room. I could not stand the smell. When he had finished he showed how much dog hair they were able to get up. It filled over half of his tube. I plan on having them come back in the summer, and clean it again. I would recommend them to anyone that wants a clean carpet smell."

"They did a great job and were very quick and efficient. They even negotiated a lower price because we didn't need our gutters cleaned, since they were going to be replaced the next week. I will definitely use their service again when I need the exterior of my house washed or windows or roof or driveway cleaned."

"I had some old carpet that was damaged by my pets and needed to be replaced. I decided to remove the carpet and install new wood flooring to match the rest of my house. Tile decor did an amazing job and was very detail oriented. Iâ d recommend and would look to them for other Renos."

Carpet Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The best solvent for removing carpet glue depends on its chemical composition. Most carpet glue reacts well to a solvent made from orange oil. Use mineral spirits to remove tar-based glue, which has a darker, brownish tint. Methylene chloride paint stripper and lacquer thinner should also work, but beware of the nasty and dangerous fumes.

There are a few reasons your area rug smells after cleaning. First, you might have agitated dirt, dust, and pet dander deep in the rug during cleaning, which might smell for a day or two if you didn’t remove it all. Second, if your rug smells like chemicals, it’s possible you didn’t rinse out all of the rug cleaning solution you used. Finally, if you didn’t hang up your rug to dry completely, it could be holding moisture and allowing mold to grow. In any of these cases, it’s a good idea to defer to a professional for help.

No, house cleaners or cleaning services do not need to be certified or licensed. Each state has its own requirements for licensing and certifications for companies, but most states don't require any special training to clean a home. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local guidelines for house cleaners and cleaning services.

Spring and fall are the best seasons to clean your carpet because of the mud and leaves that tend to get tracked into the house. However, cleaning your carpet during the summer can be convenient as you can open your windows to allow the carpet to dry naturally rather than running the HVAC system.

Over time, a urine-soaked mattress will lose the pee odor on its own as long as it dries out completely. However, it’s best to help the process along either by calling in a professional mattress cleaner or by using household cleaning products like white distilled vinegar and baking soda to remove the moisture and the odor. You may want to consider replacing your mattress over cleaning it if you have multiple stains or odors that are persistent.
