"My experience with Copper Fox was absolutely terrible. The sales representative, Harold, assured me the project was 2-3 weeks. We started the project in early May. Copper Fox was very gracious and took a two hour lunch break instead of a one hour lunch break everyday so that my son could sleep. I knew that this accommodation would likely make the project take a little longer, but would only affect the loud portion of construction which was framing and some of the screwing during the installation of drywall. Copper Fox did not finish the project until the end of September because they failed to order materials in a timely manner. On top of the project delay the workmanship was extremely shoddy and they failed to communicate with me in a timely manner. Their "project manager" barely came to site and didn't show up for the final inspection I had to handle it myself. I am happy to share my contract and all email correspondence."

Several factors dictate if you should waterproof the interior or exterior of your basement. Waterproofing the exterior of your home is a great option if you use your basement for storage, as it provides the most protection from water and water damage. If you prefer work done outside of your home versus inside, exterior waterproofing is best for you. However, interior waterproofing is often less expensive since the area is easier to reach and requires less labor.

The best basement waterproofing method depends on the issue you’re trying to solve. For example, if you have standing water on your basement floor, a floor drain or sump pump might be your best solution. Or, if you have standing water around your foundation, installing a drainage system that protects your basement and foundation might be better.

A crawl space can be as little as 42 inches below the grade of your house, but this is not always recommended in flood-prone areas. At a minimum, there must be at least 16 inches of clearance between the ground and the floor joists to access the space in an emergency.

Preventative measures, such as maintaining drainage systems, installing sump pumps, inspecting roofs regularly, and crafting comprehensive emergency plans, can help mitigate future risks.

Crawl spaces are the more desirable option overall because they provide additional space for storage and utilities, but they are more expensive to install and maintain. Slab foundations are considered a better option in warmer climates where the depth of the frost line isn’t an issue because they’re more affordable, but crawl spaces are better in areas where the frost line is deep or where flooding can be an issue.
