The shingles were delivered and positioned on the roof peak the day before in an hour. The following day they had the entire roof replaced with all debris removed within nine hours. "I had one shingle that had a crack in it. David Reed recommanded caulking the crack with asphalt caulk which he went ahead and did. David evaluated the current shingles and said they were 20 year shingles and I had about five years of use left. The shingles had some hail damage but all in all the shingles were okay. Outstanding customer service, David came on time, repaired the shingle and evaluated the rest of the shingled roof. Provided ball park estimate on replacing the entire shingled roof."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, removing a chimney is a difficult and major undertaking. Chimneys often provide structural support to a home, so if it's a load-bearing structure, you'll need to take extra precautions to maintain your home's integrity. A project of this complexity typically requires a structural engineer, a masonry contractor, and a demolition crew. The removal process may involve taking the chimney out brick by brick from inside the walls. The cost for chimney removal can range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on the job's complexity. Due to the difficulty and cost, some homeowners opt to remove the fireplace and seal the chimney at the top and bottom, sometimes also removing the visible exterior portion at the roofline.

Though roof coatings can last up to two decades, it’s a good idea to recoat your roof every four to six years. This is especially important if you have a built-up roof, which is vulnerable to moisture issues. Inspect your built-up roofs annually to make sure they don’t need a new coat.

Metal roofing offers durability, energy efficiency, and resistance to extreme weather conditions. It can reduce cooling costs, has a longer lifespan than traditional materials, and provides a sleek, modern appearance, adding value to a property.

The cost to install a drip edge on an existing roof runs about $1 to $3 per linear foot, which comes out to between $150 and $1,000, with an average cost of $575. These are just averages; the total project price can vary depending on the type of drip edge chosen and whether you hire a professional for the installation. Factors like roof size, complexity, and labor rates also play a role in determining the final cost.

Winter is the least expensive time of year to replace a roof due to decreased demand. However, it’s not an ideal time to replace your roof, as there are numerous factors that can inhibit the work, including shorter days, snow and ice, and cold temperatures.
