"This customer is not one to be trusted to give an opinion as to our craftsmanship. There was no damages to his property, the project was completed to code and with the proper materials. After 3 months of trying to collect on a job completed correctly and signed off on by this customer he has now gone to the extreme of bad reviews after we have commenced legal action to collect for our services. We stand by our services and actions."
Own a very old farm house. Almost impossible to heat. I live in a different State so everything was done via email. I rent the home out to someone and this is what they emailed me about this company..
The entire foundation is now completely sealed. They also cleaned out the miscellaneous junk that was laying in the dirt, like old bottles and cans, insulation, etc. They took out about 6 large contractor bags of stuff. Mostly old nasty insulation but I thought this was nice because it was unexpected. You can recommend these people to your friends. There were two guys, they arrived a little early and were completely professional. They put booties on their shoes when entering the house, covered everything not to be insulated with plastic and kept me informed about the process.
I was also sent pictures.... looks awesome..... I think it will do the job. We had entire crawlspace and basement done. Expensive but had to be done....will pay off in long run.
I bought this house in Feb and am using this room as a kennel room for my 3 dogs. It was quite hot in there with the old insulation. The room gets the afternoon sun until dark exposure. It is an AMAZING difference with the spray foam in. I rarely use the window a/c in the evenings when I bring the dogs in, and if I do, it's just for an hour to make sure the dogs are comfy. Before, I had to have the a/c on for at least 3 hours and it did NOT cool down the room, and the celing had ABSOLUTELY no insulation in it when they tore it out.
It was hard to get the drywall people and spray foam company to work in tandem. Something that I expected to take one week to complete ended up taking 3 weeks, because the subs that did the drywall did not come back and finish the job right away completely. In the future, I will not pay in full until all work is complete, my bad. Or I will hire my own drywall workers.
Jared and his team diid an amazing job and would hire them back for future work, which I will probably need in the future to sound proof part of my basement. Also, I was not there initially when they started the work, and they went ahead and cleared the room, took down the blinds, etc, which is not something they usually do. They were running ahead of schedule time-wise, so they came early and decided to start.
We signed the contract and the work was completed promptly. The crew did an awesome job! Being able to raise the stoop back to its original location instead of replacing it not only saved us hundreds of dollars, but it looks better because we don't have brand new concrete next to old concrete. If you have a sidewalk that is tilting or concrete steeps that have settled call NOVA foam before thinking about replacement.
The actual spray foam process went very smoothly. They provided fans that ran all night, but be prepared for some fumes that will last a couple of days, even with thorough venting. It is just part of the deal with foam.
The spray foam insulation is far superior to fiberglass and solved some trouble spots we had that needed much better sealing.
The contractor was very flexible in accommodating what we were trying to accomplish.
Recommendations:
Remove stuff from the attic. Some foam pieces will fly around.
Provide the contractor with a clear path into and out of spaces, especially your attic. Be prepared for fiberglass dust.
Cover anything near the path fiberglass will be carried out near. Cover and seal as much as you can.
Be prepared to clean fiberglass dust up after.
NOVA spray foam was able to do this within a week of me contacting them. They were always responsive to all my questions. They began the process around 8 or 9 in the morning and were finished before noon. They told me to go to the second floor and keep the windows closed. There is minimal off-gassing and it dissipates quickly, but it adds up depending on the square footage. They used a ventilation exhaust system to make sure the crawlspace air was circulated. After they left I opened the windows and did not smell anything.
As a result - and this is subjective - I feel that the humidity level in the house is much lower since there is nothing coming up from the crawl space anymore. The very slight moldy odor I sometimes smelled downstairs is also completely gone. I have a wooden floor and it feels a bit more solid and quieter.
All in all I feel that the cost was worth it and I have peace of mind that I will have no more crawl space issues. The application took care of the moisture barrier, too, since they covered the vents.
As an allergy sufferer I don't trust fiberglass and if I have to deal with insulation again in any part of the house I will choose this every time. NOVA has been great and they absolutely know what they are doing. I would use them again any time.
We hired NOVA Insulation to help insulate the crawl space between the ground and floor of our first floor row house (i.e. we don?t have a basement). Understandably, due to an emergency, the representative had missed our initial appointment ? but
contacted us later to reschedule and aplogized profusely. From that point on, they were eager to help us address the insulation problems we had, and they were pleasant to work with. The first level, and especially the floors, prior to the service, were noticeably colder than the rest of the house. In fact, the house was not only freezing, but the heating bill was shocking.
Despite our crawl space under our house being very difficult to access, Nova insulation went above and beyond to find a solution and get access to the space. These guys clearly have to work in difficult conditions, given that they were crawling around in very little space to complete the project.
Upon initally inspecting under the house, they noted that there was a considerable breeze from the back to the front of the house ? and much of the old insulation was falling down.
Within days of the initial inspection, they set up an appointment to come out to do the work, which included removing the old insulation and spraying 4 inches of foam onto the subfloor. From what we can tell so far, it has made a difference and our house
retains heat much better ? of course the weather warmed up just as we had the work done so it is hard to say how much warmer the house is ? but we are optimistic. The representative we worked with, Shawn, was very professional, prompt, and clearly knowledgeable and experienced with regards to their work and the process. It was obvious that the company endeavors to
maintain a positive and professional reputation, and that they value that reputation, which we respect.
UPDATE: Ken called, stopped by and will provide a proposal in a day or two.
Update 2: October 25, 2012: Decided to go with this company even though we had a rocky start. Guys are here removing old insulation. All are polite, professional and working hard. Ken stopped by to check on the progress. Plan is to do the spray in tomorrow. Originally gave an "F" for punctuality but upgraded to "C". Guys showed up today on time and ready to work.
Update 3: October 26 2012: Guys again showed up on time and ready to work. Finished and cleaned up. Happy with the work they did. They do leave an exhaust fan in the attic to remove any fumes from the foam as it is being sprayed in. They will pick up the fan early next week. Kept punctuality a "C" because I can't get past two missed appointments and no call. However, overall an "A".
Superb work,
Thank you.
