"JES Foundation contracts all their electrical work out to Root Electric. In the process of installing my new sump pump, back-up sump pump, and sump pump alarm system, it was determined that a new dedicated outlet could not be created due to my existing electrical panel being too small. Thus, I needed to get an electrical panel upgrade. Through JES Foundation, a date and time was arranged to have my new electrical panel upgrade installed. The lead Root electrician Andrew, and his assistant Andy, dd a terrific job installing the new upgraded electric panel. They were both very friendly, efficient, and professional. Andrew afterwards walked me through everything that was done, and answered any questions that I had. They also cleaned up afterwards very well. I highly recommend Root Electric and JES Foundation to anyone who needs their expertise."

"Called Dexter Wells & Plumbing and John was about to come out the same day and the very next day installed a new well pump and pressure tank for us. We are very pleased with the services received. John is a very nice man and definitely knows what he is talking about when it came to our issue. Would without a doubt recommend them and use them again."

"The twelve year old heat pump (original installation) servicing our upstairs zone had a persistent freon leak and needed replacement. Alan, the owner of Parrish Services, responded to my HomeAdvisor request and offered to come out at 6PM on a Saturday evening to assess the situation and provide an estimate. He started with a heat pump/air handler combination at the same capacity as my current system and presented a couple of upgrade options as well (I ended up going up half a ton since the old system had struggled on some of the hottest days). Since we would be switching to a new refrigerant, another installer had insisted I would also need a new line set. Alan checked with the manufacturers of his systems (Trane, Bosch) and determined the Trane system could use the existing line set, while removing the more expensive Bosch system from consideration. He was also very patient and timely in his responses as I asked several follow-up questions over the next several days regarding line flushing procedures when switching refrigerants. His responsiveness, combined with a competitive price compared to other providers, led me to select his proposal. When the installer showed up (on time) to do a site survey, he was quick and professional and asked me several times if I had any additional questions. Since the job was to include an attic installation on an expected hot summer day, they requested a 6AM start on installation day. The team showed up promptly at the scheduled time and was finished before noon, freeing up my afternoon for other tasks. Throughout the installation the personnel were very professional, polite and courteous. After two weeks the system appears to be running well with no issues. Of course any assessment won't be complete until we experience the heating season with our new system and subsequent routine maintenance, but based upon my experience so far, Parrish is a first-class operation."

"I highly recommended Casco Plumbing!! I was having major water issues in my basement, lawn, and drive way during latest torrential rains. I feared my outdoor sump pump system had failed. I called late afternoon on Saturday, and Matt Dougherty was at my door within an hour. He examined both of the sump pump systems (which were working fine), dug in the dirt and standing water in search of drain pipes and exits, snaked drain pipes, and treaded the cold water. Matt explained to me what was going on and what I could do to help deal with Mother Nature and survive this crazy weather. Understanding what was going on helped me immensely. Matt was a true professional and clearly an expert in his field. Matt and Caso Plumbing are on my call list for any future problems and to recommend to friends and work colleagues!"

"A-Master assessed our plumbing issue (bad check valve on well pump and bad pressure tank). Quote for repairs included pulling the pump to replace check valve. Cost was quite a bit more than another plumber quote we had received so we went with the cheaper option (also because that plumber was under contract with our home warranty company). Was very impressed with A-Master plumber's professionalism, speed of diagnosis, punctuality, explanation of repairs needed, and communications. They were definitely superior in those areas to the cheaper plumber, but for this job we decided the cheaper option was sufficient."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

You shouldn’t shower while a sump pump isn’t working. Although household wastewater isn’t supposed to go into the sump pit, it’s best to wait to shower until your sump pump is running properly and able to move excess water out of the basement. If you need to shower when the sump pump isn’t working, aim for a short shower.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.

A water pressure booster doesn't require special maintenance. Like any house system, inspections should be a regular part of your annual schedule. Check for leaks, faulty valves, pressure loss, and mineral build-up. Pressure loss could be a result of mineral build-up, and you can descale the system with a vinegar and water solution.

The difference between an ejector pump and a sump pump lies in their purpose and design—an ejector pump functions to remove liquid gray water and soft solid sewage waste from your home. If you have a laundry room or bathroom in your basement, an ejector pump for your sewage tank prevents sewage from backing up in your washing machine or bathroom’s drains.

A sump pump is designed to remove excess groundwater that may enter your home, either due to flooding or periods of heavy rain.

If you notice any new sump pump noises, such as persistent clanging or gurgling, then you likely have a sump pump problem on your hands. Foul odors coming from the pump can also indicate problems. Additionally, if your unit turns on but doesn't pump water, you might have to address electrical problems. In any of these cases, it's a good idea to hire a professional to address the issue.
