"Gonzalez Landscaping & Tree Care did an outstanding job and completed the job quickly. Recieved quote on Thursday and they worked Friday through Sunday to complete the job. I also had them powerwash the house. I'll use them again in the future."

"Absolutely outstanding.  A quick phone call and they sent their arborist, a price was quoted, accepted and they came out on time.  Very professional crew-you could barely tell they had been there.

Exceptional!"

"David was an absolute professional and finished the job 100%. He was very reasonably priced and approached the project with knowledge and skill. He removed two trees and a 5ft x 5ft bush I no longer needed. He grinded down the stumps and roots to make the surface level again. Great job! I am going to hire him for another project I'll be starting soon."

"We've had a lot of tree work done over the years. Gordon and his crew were by far the best service we've ever used. They took down a mammoth tree, pruned others, and cleaned everything up--at a reasonable cost. We recommend him with no reservations!"

"Jeff was the very first person to call me, about 15 mins after I had gone onto Home Advisor. This young man was courteous, knowledgeable and, overall, one of those guys that wants to WORK. When he left after the initial consultation, my husband and I both felt like, "You just don't come across many people like that any more." We did have one issue where part of a huge oak branch broke one of my large, old rhododendrons that was underneath the tree. Jeff went right out and bought a new one....the same size. I was so impressed and grateful! We will definitely use Premier Tree and Landscaping for future jobs and highly recommend them."

"Ross' staff were very professional and were very quick to provide an estimate. Their arborist even provided some advice on some adjacent trees on my HOA's property that might affect my home. The crew that conducted the trimming was fast and completed the work uneventfully while I was at work. I'd hire again if needed."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Signs include dead branches, growth over structures, diseases, pests, or roots impacting hardscapes.

There are many signs that a tree is diseased or dying, and if you suspect that’s the case, you should call an arborist immediately. You might notice rot or fungus on the trunk or that the tree is beginning to lean to one side. Brittle branches or signs of root damage are other indicators that a tree is in trouble. If the tree is dying, it might be time to cut the tree down so it doesn’t fall.

You can shape a cherry tree by trimming vertical branches, dense branches, and intersecting branches. Your personal aesthetic comes into play, as well. If you want to simply thin and shape the tree, you can get away with trimming the aforementioned parts of your cherry tree. If you want to shorten branches, however, consider thinning cuts, which alter the length of the branches while encouraging light penetration, new buds and shoots, and a structurally-sound shape.

You may be looking to identify maple trees to use for home improvement projects. In that case, you can tell hard maples by looking at their leaves. Leaves will have a U-shaped dip, or sinus, between the points, or lobes, of the leaves. Leaves of soft maples tend to have V-shaped sinuses.

If you already have the cut wood in front of you, look for a light, uniform color to identify hard maple wood and check for variations of red, gray, or brown streaks and an overall darker color in soft maple wood.

Trees provide many benefits, including shade, habitat for local wildlife, and cleaner air, so it’s always a good idea to try an alternative strategy like crown reduction before you chop one down. But sometimes, cutting down a tree is the only option (like if it’s severely diseased). A licensed arborist can assess the tree and recommend the best course of action.
