"SafeStreets’ alarm system is fantastic. The motion sensors, door/window contacts, and cameras work flawlessly. The home automation features are a huge plus—I can control everything from my phone. Highly recommend SafeStreets to anyone looking for reliable security."

"Last weekend had someone pry our side door open to our exterior garage and the ADT door sensor picked it up immediately. The alarm siren was loud and scared the person off. Someone from the response center called within 30 seconds. We’re fortunate that the security system did what it is supposed to. Feels like we made the right call going with an ADT security system."

"Delivery was delayed due to credit inquiry. After the concern was raised, shipment was rushed to us. Self installation didn't go as easy. Issue was resolved over the phone. The glass break sensor was a bit sensitive to loud noise such as cabinet door closing and door sensor repeatedly falls off and had to be reattached. Notification of alarm activation was fast and made to the right contact numbers. This prevented false alarm calls to the police."

"I switched from another company to Security One, they use the same equipment. They had to come out and recode everything. I simply switched because of the financial benefit. I have only had them for a few months, and I haven't had any problems with them. They save me some money every month.  When my alarm went off, they did call me."

"That's the name I am vaguely familiar with; it's a home security company that is license to ADT franchise or dealer if I am correct.  They were very good.  They were prompt; they were quality.  The individuals move their business.  They were very timely and it was a good experience."

"It went great! I can't believe how good my house, garage and pavers look! I hired Wes to pressure wash my house, garage and pavers; clean the roof; and clean the gutters. My blue house had a green tinge from the mildew growing on shaded side of the house. Additionally, the roof had moss growing on it (something I hadn't noticed before) as did the pavers (which I did notice). I called Wes for an estimate. He was very responsive to my request, patiently walked me through the services his company offers and answered my questions. Wes came out to my property to take a look and provide a quote, which I thought was fair for the amount of work involved. When I called to scheduled a day/time, Wes was able to schedule the work to occur in less than a week. He came out to the house as planned and performed the requested services. Everything looks new! The building facades and roofs look new (and mildew/moss free) and the pavers are a bright red again. The gutters are clean. Wes even cleaned the deck bench (now white instead of a dirty grey) and the cement walk in front of the side door, which is over and above what I asked him to do. I'm totally sold on the quality of his work. I will definitely hire him again."

"Yvette Pringle provided courteous and professional feedback to me when I called to inquire about a new home security system.  My situation was unique because we were trying to find something that would work for a deaf person.  I appreciated that Yvette did her research to find out what would work.  She also offered different options in terms of a package and plan.  We did end up going with another company, but I really did want to recognize Yvette for her work.  She was very polite and helpful.

"This project was designed to be done in several affordable stages, with each a stand-alone project that did not look like we hadn't finished our job. For example, the stairs and landing were done in such a way that if we never did anything more, it would look complete. (See individual earlier stages in other reviews) What started as my hope to just afford to move the stairs ended up being that we could afford to have a 2-story porch that runs the length of the back of our house! We started the project in spring of 2011 and finished in spring 2012, as our budget allowed us to pay as we went.
Marshall continued to consult with us and make suggestions as we went along. The crew was always prompt, at budget, finished on time or earlier than promised, and cleaned up after themselves. For example: for the price of other companies'  quotes JUST to move the staircase, Marshall replaced the railings, made 5-ft wide stairs broken up by a 10x14 ft (mid-level useable) deck, and included a bit of seating along the edge. That is the sort of value we continued to see.
Marshall is "old school" (not a lot in writing) and we did have one miscommunication about door specifications, but it ended up even better than I'd expected so all was good. Marshall and his brother Donald and assistant James did a great job (as did the subcrews who did the roof and paint). I got the impression they treated our house as if it were their own, making upgrades at their own expense sometimes to do the job right and to high standards.
Visitors continue to be amazed at the high quality of the workmanship. We love our porches! If I can figure out how to post photos, I will."

Security Doors questions, answered by experts

Your best bet is to install a bracket that secures to the bottom of the unit and the side of your house. You should still secure the AC unit in the open window using some of the other methods already listed, but a bracket is best to ensure that it stays put—both during operation and in case of an attempted theft.

Standard residential deadbolt locks come with a steel bolt that locks your door into place using a key (or keypad) on one side and a thumb turn on the other. When you lock it, the bolt slides into a strike plate on your door jamb to secure your door shut.

Grounding is a great first step to prevent electrical shock, but you can take it further with GFCI outlets and AFCIs (arc fault circuit interrupters). In particular, AFCIs help protect against the type of electrical arcs that cause fires, like if a mouse chews on a wire or your laptop starts overheating at the wall. These are required in some areas of your home.

Any type of dead bolt lock provides the highest level of safety for a single device. However, it’s also important to determine a lock's grade. Locks can come in either Grade 1, Grade 2, or Grade 3, which indicates how durable it is and if it’s constructed solidly. Safety experts recommend choosing locks based on Grade 1, which offers the highest level of durability.

You should always install cameras at exterior doors and windows. Other areas where you should place cameras are your front and back yards, the garage and driveway, common living areas, hallways and staircases, and the basement. Remember, you can start with a small Wi-Fi security camera system and always add more cameras if needed.
