"I used Radon Abetment Services LLC to install a radon system in my basement. John and his team were excellent and I highly recommend them to anybody with this need. John was able via video over phone identify where the system should go. His team was extremely professional and courteous. The installation took a day and the improvement in radon levels was remarkable. We would absolutely use them again."

"CSI was flexible and was able to schedule a home inspector the day after I got a bid accepted on a house. The inspector, Patrick, showed up on time and the inspection took about 4 hours. Patrick was responsive to any questions I had by email or live during the inspection. My one recommendation is that I requested a pest, mold, radon, and home inspection. It would be a better heads up if they explained that they sometimes outsource the radon inspection depending on availability of radon inspectors. Also, they can explain a bit more for new home buyers what is involved with a mold inspection. Patrick ended up just eyeing whether he spotted any mold. Because he did not see any mold, we did not have to pay extra for mold samples."

"We suffered with flooding every year since the purchase of our house in 2008.  This year we had flooding when there was no rain.  We knew that it couldn't have been a sump pump failure.  We interviewed several companies, and were temped to go with the least expensive offer.  We contacted Flood Busters. George was our first point of contact.  He convinced us that the material used by the others could not compete with the Flood Busters System.  Flood Buster's cost  twice as much as the others.  We figured that if we could not negotiate them down to the level of the others, they must have been good, otherwise they risked losing our business.  We struggled about getting the job done but with ongoing communications from George and sincere reassurances from the owner Rick, we made the commitment.  We are so glad that we did.    George provided us with details of what needed to be done, the work schedule, warranties, and explained that their work would be guaranteed for the lifetime of the house.  We were impressed, but not totally sold.  In the back of our minds there was still some apprehension.  Then we met Josh who led the project.  He explained every step of the process; why and how their fool proof system worked.  We have never met  workers who were as skilled, knowledgeable  and as much in love with their work as these men.    Rick the owner came back to make sure everything was going as required and there wasn't a moment thereafter when we felt uncertain or questioned our judgment.  They modeled professionalism to the ultimate.  We were convinced that these guys were everything we had hoped them to be.  When the job was completed we were advised to leave the walls open for a while...let some wet weather test the system.  The following day we had an amazing storm that caused a massive power outage.  Our basement stayed dry as a bone...another rain...still dry.   Now we know why they could not compromise the quality of product and service.  It's true that you get what you pay for and, in this case, what we paid was well worth the value of the product and service.  These men were amazing, and we would trust them with our home and in our home any day.  Thank you so much Flood Busters!"

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Your radon fan needs to operate 24/7 to be effective. The only time the fan isn't operating is during its replacement. Radon levels in the home can increase within hours if the fan stops working or something obstructs the stack vent. Fortunately, radon systems require no downtime maintenance between fan changes.

Options include sub-slab depressurization, crawlspace ventilation, and sealing cracks. Choose based on home construction and radon levels.

If your home has a sump pit, you can integrate it with a radon mitigation system. You can accomplish this by sealing the pump cover with an airtight lid that accommodates radon vent pipes and sump pump hoses. This allows the vent pipe to redirect the radon gas outside of your home.

The fan that pulls the radon out of the air needs to run continuously, so you may see an increase in your electric bill once you install the mitigation system. Additionally, you may see an increase in your heating or cooling bills, as the fan can cause some loss of hot or cool air.

The lifespan of a radon mitigation system depends on the type of system and its maintenance. With proper care, a system can last for many decades. Passive systems tend to last longer as they have fewer components that require replacement. Active systems, which have more moving parts like fans, generally have a shorter lifespan. For instance, water filtration devices and active pressurization systems require more frequent maintenance. While the system as a whole is durable, the radon fan in an active system typically has a lifespan of 5 to 10 years and will need to be replaced. As long as the fan is working, the mitigation system should function correctly.
