"The floors came out very nicely. the stain plus two coats of oil-based polyurethane really gave the floor a great satin finish. They could have done a better job of dust control. Only when I asked the workers to isolate the kitchen did they put up plastic sheeting but that was between sandings so dust had already infiltrated everything. Wiping down every shelf and horizontal surface has been a big pain. The dust even landed upstairs in the bedrooms. They left rub marks on my walls from the equipment hoses or power cords. They also forgot to plug in my clothes dryer. (They used the 220v outlet for the floor sander.) Their price was the best though and i only point out the negatives to help others avoid the dust problem. I wish I had known about dust mitigation techniques so I could have insisted more firmly on taping thoroughly plastic sheeting over doorways to keep the fine dust out. My house was empty before I moved in so that made the project a lot easier."

"Larry was an adventure to work with--in a good way.  We arranged everything through phone and text which was perfect for me, but very different from the full-service salesmanship you can get from other places.  From the moment we talked (and, admittedly, all his positive reviews on Angies' List), I had every bit of confidence that he would do a great job, but there was nothing I could point to that would support this confidence--just a feeling. 
It was like taking your car into a really good small-town mechanic.  He's not going to walk you through it, he's just going to fix it.  I'm sure if I had questions, Larry would have answered them, but I didn't know what to ask and he wasn't volunteering.  Communication just isn't his thing.
He was concerned that our floor was quite thin and took extra care in sanding it. The floor is no longer level (we have to fold paper under the legs of all our tables), but I assume this is because of the material he had to work with.
I thought he was going to do the job in three days, but it ended up taking over a week because he would show up some days and not others. This wasn't a problem for us (we hadn't moved in yet and had given him a key to let himself in).  Toward the end of the week, we let him know that we needed it finished so we could have other work done and he happily accommodated.  If you have a specific timeframe for your project, be sure to let him know upfront--it's part of that whole communication thing.
Bottom line:  he does good work for a good price, but I had to set my control-freak tendencies aside and just trust.

"I recently did a home remodel, which included installing hardwood floors. JCM came highly recommended by one of my friends, so I contacted them for an estimate. Marlon came out very soon after I contacted him, was early to the appointment, took measurements, and gave me a quote the same day. He answered all of my questions and was very responsive. I used reclaimed maple hardwood and they had no issues installing it (and were very selective in which pieces they used). The floors were sanded down and they put down sample stains so I could see what the finish would look like on the actual floor. Marlon’s crew was amazing. They were kind and did an excellent job.
