The job included designing/redoing our frontyard bed, installing downspouts, building a 330 square foot backyard patio bordered by a dry creek, installing natural stone steps leading up to the patio, and designing/executing new backyard landscape beds. Our backyard - which is on a slope and not a huge space to begin with - looks out onto a shared driveway. Given that, my wife and I struggled with how to create a sense of privacy in our backyard without having a fence installed. Of all the professionals we met with initially, Ben, our Project Manager and Connor, who did a lot of the design work, had the clearest vision of how to get it done. Both were mindful and in tune with what was important to my wife and I. Both were creative in working within the parameters of our space to deliver what is in my opinion, the very best job that anyone could have done. Big credit to the the teams that came out and did the work as well, Cheto included. The results are stunning and my wife and I couldn’t be happier
- Groff Landscape Design LLCGroff is probably the best backyard renovator in all of Northern Virginia. They are EXPENSIVE! But...I would use them again! You'll get absolute professionalism at all times, which is something I never got from any other contractor for such a project. They are responsive, honest, patient, and do excellent work. They also stand by their work after the project is over. This is not the typical experience where you only get a callback when it's time for a money draw or a Yelp review. The workers are all excellent, dressed in uniform, not throwing trash/smoking on your property. They even clean up their mess totally when they leave! We had a fire pit patio built, with retaining wall and lighting. A pavilion with heaters and a fan, total landscaping, and a playground area. We had numerous change orders during the course of our install and they didn't bat an eye. Highly recommended 1st class experience...if you have the bucks

- Willis Builders IncThe work was done by Alexa and three of his co-workers for Willis Builders, using high quality flagstone cut to form an interlocking stone pattern and precision applied cement grouting. I was impressed by the geometric precision used to cut the flagstone highlighted by the contrasting cement color. The work was done efficiently and all debris was removed. The job was completed a few hours later when Alexa returned with one coworker to wash the stone free of stone dust and cement excess. They even hosed the adjoining plants and bushes to remove dust that had settled on the plants

"We hired XtraCare to rebuild a failing retaining wall along our driveway, repoint the masonry on another retaining wall, install a French drain behind the retaining wall that wasn’t rebuilt, and reconstruct a concrete walkway that had subsided over the years. We had requested quotes from several reputable contractors, and XtraCare submitted a very reasonable bid. While it was not the lowest one received, our initial meeting with Cleber convinced us that he had a much better sense of the myriad challenges posed by the project (e.g., difficult topography, drainage issues, potential permitting obstacles) than the other contractors did. The project manager, CJ, was always responsive and let us know what to expect at every stage of the project. The crew was unfailingly friendly and diligent and even completed some work that was outside the scope of the project (repointing some crumbling mortar on the porch adjacent to the new retaining wall they built). We are extremely pleased with the results! Even the building inspector complemented us on the excellent craftsmanship. And two weeks after they completed the job, the crew returned to clean and inspect the wall one more time. Finally, the office staff – Mari and Raquel – were exceedingly helpful and communicative, always keeping us apprised of what was happening on the project and what to expect next. We cannot recommend XtraCare highly enough. They truly went above and beyond, and we intend to use them for any future projects on our house.
