"Excellent. Dennis and his crew were professional and did not take long to start and complete the job. The four doors were professionally installed and have made my home a safer and more valuable asset. The doors are now plumb and seal to prevent energy loss in summer and winter months. Would definitely hire again."

"Mr. FIX IT has a great customer service team that are very helpful and friendly. They keep you informed every step along the way! The installation team of Kevin and Eddie were very professional and possessed ultimate knowledge of their task. They installed a new "Jacuzzi Bath" converting my 40 year old bathtub/shower combination into a beautiful and modern walk in shower! It looks fantastic! I will say that the conversion was not cheap, but quality materials and workmanship never is! I highly recommend "MR. FIX IT" and would not hesitate to use their services in the future! "Josiah showed up on the days he promised and worked diligently to complete my shower install. He and his partner were respectful and congenial with my family, he even went out of his way to bring my grandson a gift on his second day in my home. I would re-hire Doc's in the future."

"Wilson Delagado did a great job on our table.  He is an excellent craftsman.  He is not as well organized as he needs to be. He missed our first appointment and was late in delivering the table.  Nevertheless I would use him again.  He is honest and does excellent work but he requires patience.

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

A water pressure regulator, also known as a pressure-reducing valve (PRV), is typically located near the main water shut-off valve where the main water line enters your home. Common places to check are basements, utility areas, or outside near the water meter. The device is usually bell-shaped. Its purpose is to control the water pressure coming into your home from the public supply, protecting your pipes, plumbing fixtures, and appliances. If you can't find a regulator, your home might not have one. In cases of high water pressure, installing a PRV is recommended.

Since they are cold-blooded, snakes find cool toilet bowls attractive, especially during hot weather. Or they may be seeking to escape the plumbing and find a spot in your home where they can warm up on a cold night. Snakes may also be looking for food.

Window wells contain a drainage system that either redirects the water downhill away from your foundation or connects to your home’s interior drainage system. It’s important to check every few months to ensure your window well’s drainage is clear and working properly to avoid water damage to your foundation and basement.

In general, PVC (polyvinyl chloride), PEX (polyethylene), and copper are the three piping materials used in new constructions when adding water supply lines. There are some caveats. PEX and copper are considered ideal when running lines that will handle hot water because they are not at risk for melting and warping the way that PVC piping can. At $0.40 to $4 per linear foot, PEX is considered more affordable than copper pipes, which cost $2 to $12 per linear foot. PVC is considered appropriate in water lines for cold taps only.

Yes, and no. Your shower, toilet, and sink all connect to the same main drain, but the secondary drains going from each fixture to the main drain are usually separate. This isn’t always the case—especially in older homes—but since toilets contain black water and showers, tubs, and sinks have grey water, toilets are more regulated and come at a greater risk of contamination. It’s best to keep these drains separate using individual waste collection for this reason.
