"I was referred to Century Bathrooms & Kitchens by two different people that were extremely pleased with the work that was done and the professionalism of the company. I contracted them to do a total demo of our main floor and put in a new kitchen, powder room, and flooring and paint throughout. We also did a total demo and install of the master bathroom. Kevin is very meticulous and does amazing work and he even found space above the bathroom and vaulted the bathroom ceiling, added a sub-floor in the “attic” we did not know we had and added stairs for access. He also discovered an empty shaft in the hallway and built a nice size hall closet for me. The entire team is very professional, and they do not cut any corners. They have a showroom in Fairfax which is very helpful when making design decisions. They use quality products and the work is excellent. Honestly, I did find that they were a little higher priced, but now I see why. You are paying for quality. I have had houses built before and have had homes that needed quite a bit of work, and I have never seen a company that performs and delivers like Century Bathrooms & Kitchens. I have had several people in my house since they have finished, and they were all overwhelmed by the quality and stunning job that was done. Several of my neighbors have already asked for their contact information. I still cannot believe how smooth the process was and how beautiful my new house looks! I highly recommend Century Bathrooms & Kitchens!"

Closets questions, answered by experts

The time it takes to build a closet varies widely depending on the project's size, complexity, and level of customization. On average, construction can take anywhere from a few days to two weeks.

A simple reach-in closet might be completed in less than a day, while a more complex walk-in closet could take one to two days or more. A typical project often falls in the 2-to-5-day range. However, a large, highly customized walk-in closet that requires structural changes, like moving a load-bearing wall, will take significantly longer.

A professional contractor can provide the most accurate time estimate for your specific project. If you are planning a DIY build, it is best to budget additional time.

When storing your clothes long-term, first consider the container's breathability. While plastic bags, cardboard boxes, or vacuum sealing may be great options for short-term storage, they won’t help your clothes hold up in the long term. Breathable plastic boxes and fabric bags help with airflow, prevent mold or mildew from building up, and allow proper airflow.

Hanging and folding clothes are efficient ways to pack your clothes during a move. When choosing a packing method, consider the type of clothing you’re packing. For example, clothing such as dresses, suits, blouses, and items made of silk and similar fabrics are ideal for hangers. On the other hand, it’s easier to fold pants, shorts, t-shirts, thick sweaters, and more.

If you have a bathroom closet with movable shelves, you can place them at virtually any spacing that works for you. Useful measurements between shelves in the working, or middle, section can be 10 to 16 inches for towels or linens. Lower or higher shelving could be up to 24 inches between shelves to store lesser-used or bulky items or boxes.

Custom furniture can provide more efficient storage and maximize resources.
