"Destiny's Tree Service is a wonderful company to work with. We had two huge Leland cypress trees twice as tall as our house, wedged between two houses. Marvin and his Destiny's crew were amazing. They skillfully removed both trees, being careful not to damage the houses, roof, bushes, and lawn. Then they did a perfect job again removing two big stumps. Everyone paid such attention to detail. They are truly tree work artists and we want to say thank you so much. Also very reasonable priced."

"We've had a lot of tree work done over the years. Gordon and his crew were by far the best service we've ever used. They took down a mammoth tree, pruned others, and cleaned everything up--at a reasonable cost. We recommend him with no reservations!"

"Carlos and Heidi were professional and prompt. Quickly returned all my phone calls and answered my questions. The crew that took down 5 large trees and ground the stumps left the work area neat. They stacked the wood as asked and took the smaller branches with them. I would definitely use their service again."

"Excellent work from start to finish. Nico the Estimator came when he promised, made a good bid, and was a bit flexible when other possible contractors came in a bit lower. The tree removal itself was done with great professionalism. That crew also came when promised and managed to remove a 60-feet tall tree without damaging the yard or letting any of the dead branches fall on the neighbors' property. Everything was then removed and cleaned and hauled away. Again, an excellent job."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

If tree branches cross well into your property line, in many cases, these branches become part of your property, and you can trim them up until your neighbor’s property line. However, this issue will vary based on local ordinances, so you should do your research before making any decisions. Better yet, speak with your neighbor about how to handle any tree issues.

If you don’t mind the branches, you can leave them be, but if they’re becoming a hazard, it’s definitely worth having a conversation.

Unless it’s dead or dangerous, think twice about cutting down a tree in your yard. They’re good for health, well-being, wildlife, and the environment. Plus, local authorities often have regulations prohibiting the removal of trees, especially protected species or individual trees with historical value.

Pruning trees during the summer can be a bad idea because the new growth will take place during the hottest months of the year, which can stress your tree out. Similarly, pruning during the early fall can be a bad idea, too, because you’d be stimulating new growth when most trees are aiming to go dormant.

Pruning recommendations will vary by the type of tree, but generally, waiting until winter to prune your trees is a good idea.

A tree branch should start to form roots in about three months. It can take about a year for a tree branch to develop roots strong enough to go in the ground. For best results, start several branches because, no matter how closely you follow instructions, they won’t all form roots. Compost any that aren’t thriving.

Unless there’s some sort of rule in your community’s homeowners’ association that requires you to remove a stump, there’s no law that says you have to take it out. If you’re not wedded to the idea of removing it, there are plenty of ways to get creative with this tree remnant. Using the stump as the medium for a wood carving or turning it into a planter are just two examples of ways to repurpose a tree stump.
