Exceptional, though this is always been the case with this company. Friendly, informed, attentive staff and outstanding installers. Everyone involved was polite, professional and courteous. Due to fortunate timing and the appliance we wanted, since it was already in their warehouse, they were able to deliver and install on the same day we first called them.

I paid for a refrigerator on Friday and was told I would have delivery on Tuesday or Wednesday. I did not hear from Southland on Tuesday so I called on Wed. morning. I was told I would have delivery that day. I called the number given to me to reach the driver but was only able to leave a message. By the afternoon I had not heard from anyone and called and left another message with the driver. I then attempted to call the store. The phone rang for two minutes and no one ever answered. I sent an email asking that someone please call me. Within an hour I received a phone call stating that the refrigerator that I bought and paid for was out of stock and would be for at least 3 weeks. I waited 6 days from day of purchase until the day of supposed delivery and no one contacted me!

I bought a refrigerator and 5 days later, on the day it was supposed to be delivered, I was told that it was out of stock and would not be available for at least 3 weeks.

They were wonderful. They were very helpful in the storeroom. They didn't try to sell us the higher priced appliances and they gave us pros and cons of each type of appliance. They made everything so easy and they were very warm and outstanding. The quality of the appliances is great.

We haven't been impressed with the quality of the GE dishwasher we purchased - the entire bottom tray falls out (no stops) if you pull it out rapidly when loading dishes. That quality of the dishwasher is not really Southland's fault, but I felt we could have been better advised. Our real problem was with the installation. The installer hooked up the dishwasher and then announced that we had an "existing" leak in the connection pipe under the sink that we would "have to get taken care of" and left after parking a small bucket under the pipe. (There was NO leaking before the installation.) After he left and we checked the pipes, we discovered that the joint of the metal pipe was completely eaten away and had we run the dishwasher we risked a terrible, flooding leak. No mention of this to us. In addition, the dishwasher wasn't aligned properly when installed in the opening and continues to require that we pull the door slightly to one side to close. Over the years, Southland has held a good reputation (our mother loves them and gets great service) - our experience definitely does not meet that.

Last fall, Southland delivered and installed a new dishwasher that we purchased from them and removed our old dishwasher.

Lee and his assistant arrived and were extremely courteous - as always. Removed microwave from built-in enclosure, fixed the problem and re-installed it back in the cabinet. Additional info: SOUTHLAND IS TOP NOTCH. They have great sales and service.. We have bought all of our appliances there since the 1970's and wouldn't consider buying anywhere else. We recently recommended them to our daughter who is replacing her kitchen appliances. She bought a refrigerator and ovens from them and was 100% happy with the sales and installation. She said she definitely would buy the rest of her appliances from them also.

Through the years we have purchased a number of appliances from Southland and have always been pleased. One of our recent purchases was a dishwasher; unfortunately it didn't work properly. Their chief repairman tried to replace a defective part but when that did not work, he contacted the sales department and obtained a new dishwasher for us. It works perfectly and we are very pleased. Of course we will continue to make purchases from Southland and highly recommend it.

I'm only reviewing service here, but have also had good experiences with sales. I'm impressed with every aspect of their repair service but their scheduling. They only want to commit to a day when you make the appointment, calling you that morning to give you a time window. In the 1950s, when a housewife could be home all day, that was a good system. Today, when most adults are working, that isn't adequate. When you do get the person on the phone to give you a time window several days in advance, the tech doesn't always get that message. But I trust them to do good work when they get here, which counts for quite a lot.

Problem was mis-diagnosed. This stainless steel side by side should have been diagnosed properly and repaired. It was like new. Southern Appliance did give me a $360 credit towards the purchase of a new unit. I used to work in an appliance repair company and we would have repaired rather than replace.

Side by side refer/freezer was running too warm. Tech replaced digital control. Problem persisted. On third visit tech. stated he saw a large block of ice on coils and best solution was to buy a new unit.

I was very pleased with the service from Southland Appliance. We have a DCS gas cooktop, not one that is prevalent in Va. Beach. We had already fired one appliance repair company who had not only failed to repair the electronic spark problem, but broke the valve assembly on one of the burners. Paul came out and fixed the electronic spark problem determined what part needed to be ordered from DCS to fix the broken valve. About a week later after receiving the part, Southland called to let me know the part was in and set up an appointment for Paul to come back to the house to replace the valve. Paul was on time for both visits, quickly did the diagnosis and repair and was very courteous and friendly. The price was very reasonable too. He really knows what he is doing. Overall an excellent experience. We will definitely use Southland again.

Technician arrived on time. Determined that the dishwasher problem involved dirty filter and he obtained a product to clean it out. The dryer problem required replacement of rollers and a belt. The dryer problem was caused by a plumbing clog, not the appliance and the technician advised me to obtain a plumber. He voided the ticket for the dryer and charged only for the repairs made. Have not used this company before but will again.

We called for service on December 31. A serviceman came early in the morning of January 2. He did not have the part and did not know if it was in stock. Southland did not order the part until the next day. We were told that it would take two days to get the part if it were not in stock. On Tuesday, January 8, we learned that the part was in; however, the repair would not be made until Thursday So we went ten days without a dryer. We understand that Southland could do nothing until they had the part but they could have ordered it the same day our dryer problem was diagnosed. We feel that they should not have made us wait for two days once they had the part in stock. The repairman put old parts inside the dryer. We would have preferred not to have dirty old parts in the dryer.

They were very responsive and helpful and worked with me on the pricing. They actually did three jobs for me at two different houses. They were cooperative and good to work with! They got the part ordered that I needed and they were very good on their pricing even though it was two different trips!

Went to Southland on Monday around noon to buy a refrigerator/freezer for our rental home. Nice that the sales person is the owner of Southland. We have purchased other items here and would not even think for one minute about buying an appliance from anyone else. Within two hours the new refrigerator was in the home, the old one removed and, because they gave us permission to go into the house, the tenants didn't have to be inconvenienced. Not only that, the experience of selecting the appliance was excellent...we were advised about what other people who rent out homes have purchased. There was not even a hint of trying to sell us more than what was appropriate for a rental home. We wanted it to be nice and also durable. We weren't advised to get an icemaker because they can be something else to need repairs, but we bought one anyway because we know our tenants would like it. These folks set the example of superior customer service. Their prices are competitive or better and the service is extraordinarily excellent.

Luckily, we had clear caulk between the countertop and the oven top or this story would be even longer. I called Lee, who practically knows when we need him before we know it, to tell him what happened and that I thought we needed him to move the oven out from its place so I could clean up the mess. I told him it was not urgent. He said "That needs to be attended to" and, sure enough, he and his partner, Alex, were here fewer than two hours later. Luckily they did not have to pull the oven out and break the caulk, but...here's the amazing part...Lee actually cleaned up the eggs. Now, I certainly didn't invite him over to do my housework, and I was so surprised and am so grateful. This is just one of the many positive experiences I have had with Southland.

I have a large Thermidor oven, purchased from Southland. Well, this week, I spilled two dozen beaten eggs on the countertop and, of course, those slimy little buggers just slithered right down underneath the oven. Most people would not be beating 2 dozen eggs, but this is a bed and breakfast.

Salesman was helpful, knowledgeable, but never pushy. (When was the last time you bought an appliance and they did NOT try to sell you an "extended warranty"?)All the costs (delivery, etc,) were known from the beginning with no surprises. We were called about the delivery as they'd said they would. Delivery came in the time frame they said. There was a problem with the dishwasher which the installers tried their best to correct but could not. Didn't want anything signed until it was right. Next business day, as promised, their technicians called and came promptly to fix the issue (which was simple, but a unique issue with the brand we'd purchased)

The Southland technician came to my house the next day after my online submission to fix my dishwasher. Southland had my dishwasher in before but did not find anything wrong. The Southland technician as a result waived the service charge and charged a reasonable price for the replacement part that I needed (before I could ask the discount was already offered). I highly recommend Southland based on my experience.
