Went above and beyond by repairing leaking duct work in attic. Also modified air intake to accommodate changes. Then came back and checked install and see how was operating.."

"HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Our AC went out in July and we called Lochridge Priest to come out and take a look. The technician they sent out was extremely young and was texting his supervisor after each step he took. After nearly 2 hours, the unit was up and running again. We paid a $99 service fee plus the labor bringing our total to around $250. Less than an hour after the technician left we heard a loud noise and the unit went out again. We called the company back where they informed that they could send another technician back to take a look but we would be charged ANOTHER service fee and it would be more since it was after hours. We stayed at a family members house and called back the next morning and spoke with a manager who after some back and forth agreed to send someone out to take a look at the unit which was now running again when we returned home and we were told we would not be billed. The technician took a look at everything said it was running fine and left without any mention of a bill. 3 months later we get a call that we have an outstanding balance of $99 for the second technician to come out and look at the unit. The customer service is TERRIBLE. They can't guarantee their work for even 24 hours. And our AC is now out AGAIN! We will never use them again and strongly advise anyone who needs HVAC services to look elsewhere!!!!!!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

You should plan to change your AC unit's filter every one to three months, depending on the manufacturer's recommendations. You should also clean the coils at least once per year, but if you have pets or someone in your household has allergies, you might need to clean them more often. Fortunately, many pros will clean the coils and change the filter for you during an inspection, which you should schedule once or twice per year.

No, it’s not normal for AC vents to drip condensation. A sweating AC vent is a sign of something wrong and can lead to issues like air duct rust or mold growth. Your HVAC unit might not be working efficiently because of a dirty filter or clogged ducts. Alternatively, your ductwork might not have adequate insulation, which allows the cool air in the ducts to meet the humid air outside, causing condensation.

If your central AC is not blowing cold air, you should try resetting the system. Many systems have a reset button. Make sure your thermostat is off, then turn off the circuit breaker that powers your AC. Hold the reset button for three to five seconds, then turn the circuit back on. Set your thermostat to cool and choose a temperature cooler than the room. Your system should turn on quickly.

For washable or electrostatic air conditioner filters, you can soak and rinse them with water. If you rinse the filter with water, make sure to use a faucet, shower head, or garden hose with a gentle water pressure setting, as strong water pressure could damage the filter.

But for disposable filters, water could ruin the filter, even allowing mold to grow in the filter. Instead, these filters should be replaced.

Your air conditioner can temporarily run with a dirty filter, but it won’t work as efficiently. It will need to work harder to blow cool air throughout the room or house, and this can eventually cause the air conditioner to overheat or die prematurely. It’s much more cost-effective to clean or replace filters than to pay higher utility bills each month and replace the entire AC unit more often.
