"Very professional. Very fast & efficient service. The owner came right out to our house, a good 30 minute drive away, and discussed with us what we needed to do in our situation. They worked with us on timing. We had insulation and new vapor barrier installation under our 1500+ sf house - it's been rainy, muddy and now it's freezing and cold. Those guys came out every day and worked in those conditions, all day, with great attitudes and smiles on their faces. It was very hard work. It was done correctly and very well. The difference in our house temperature and our energy use is amazing! Thank you!!"

Keep your gutters as clear as possible from dead leaves and other yard debris so they can effectively divert water from your house. Add extenders to the spouts so the water runs out and away from your home, not into the surrounding soil.

A vapor barrier keeps moisture out of the crawl space, while insulation reduces the amount of unconditioned air—and sometimes moisture—that enters the space. Coupling a vapor barrier with insulation can help prevent humidity and related moisture damage in a crawl space while also making your home more energy-efficient. Just be sure to use insulation that won’t get damaged from moisture, like rigid foam board or expanding spray foam insulation.

The easiest methods for waterproofing your basement include installing a gutter system to direct excess runoff away from your foundation and grading the soil away from your home to pull water away from the concrete. In some cases, these methods alone can be enough to eliminate water intrusion and moisture problems in your basement. If you have excessive rainfall in your area, though, you might need to employ more complicated solutions, like installing a French drain and a dehumidification system inside.

Underfloor insulation alone will not cause moisture and mold, but improper installation can. Although the purpose is to seal any drafts, your subfloor still needs ventilation. If you seal the area too tightly and prevent all airflow, this can cause moisture to get trapped. This moisture eventually leads to mold and—if your floors are wood—rotting.
