"Professional, organized, and knowledgeable. Showed up early each day, took great care in protecting surrounding areas of our home to prevent any damage or unnecessary mess. The stone work looks fantastic, and we plan to use them again."

"With 1 call John was on my site helping with a Kmart that took a direct hit from a tornado. He did emergency repairs and came back when we were ready to finalize the store. I have used him many times since then and will still call him when I need a Mason on my job."

"The Deck and Patio Company built us a wonderful outdoor space. Our project was precipitated by the rotting out of a critical beam in our upstairs master bedroom balcony. Martin Sullivent worked with us to not only replace the failed balcony, but to redesign it to incorporate an adjacent pergola, complete with fireplace, stone planters, sidewalk, and pony wall. In working with him over the ensuing months, we became impressed by his attention to detail and his concern for quality of craftsmanship. Our patio faces a slope down to a lake shore, and Martin's team poured a structural foundation for our patio to guarantee against erosion and sinking. The beams of the pergola are solid and sturdy, lending not only an attractive appearance, but also strength and durability. His team carefully designed placement of our fireplace in the corner of our patio to enhance and complement the view of the lake. During the design phase of the project, Martin encountered constraints resulting from the existing structure. For example, the rise between our existing patio and the patio door jamb was insufficient to allow for pavers. Martin worked with us to present alternatives that would meet our objectives, such as leaving the surface as brushed concrete, staining the concrete, or doing a stamped concrete overlay; we opted for the latter. In each case, Martin was careful to share with us the pros and cons of the various solutions. Every time we have a party, it's a BLAST! (we do it often) and we love having people over because they all enjoy it as much as we do. We strongly recommend the Deck and Patio Company to people looking to invest in a quality project to enhance their outdoor living experience."

"Workers showed up on time and when they were done you couldn't even tell that they were here. Very courteous and friendly employees, answered any and all questions I asked. Asked me if I would like for them to spread any of the remaining dirt in certain spots and hauled away what was left over after that. Cost of the entire job was middle of the road as far as quotes go but they did an excellent job. Entire job took just about 10 hours to complete (started at 930am and completed a little after 7pm). Ty, Eddie, Raul and the rest of the employees are all good people and I would definitely recommend anyone needing foundation work to give them a call.

"Fernandez Landscape gave us a very fair price for excellent work! They put sod in the front and back yard along with gravel in the flower beds. Also poured a concrete slab for a future project. The job was done very professionally. This was all done in little over a day and a half!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Homes in Spring with stable, reinforced foundations and good site drainage are ideal for masonry work. If your property has a brick or stone exterior, or an architectural style that matches masonry features, it’s a strong fit. Check for mature trees or sloped lots, as these may require extra planning. Consulting a local masonry contractor can help assess your home’s suitability and avoid common pitfalls.

Helpful?

For a seamless masonry project in Spring, start by scheduling work during cooler months to avoid summer heat and humidity. Prioritize soil testing to address the area’s expansive clay and plan for robust drainage to handle heavy rain. Secure all necessary approvals early, coordinate with your HOA, and choose a masonry contractor familiar with local conditions. Clear site access and sourcing materials from local suppliers help minimize delays.

Helpful?

Safety in Spring includes monitoring for sudden storms and halting work if lightning is nearby. Workers should stay hydrated, wear protective gear, and begin early to avoid midday heat. Be vigilant for local hazards like fire ants or snakes on site. Always confirm underground utility locations before digging, and keep first aid supplies accessible to address heat exhaustion or weather-related emergencies.

Helpful?

In Spring, homeowners often underestimate the impact of local weather, starting projects during peak heat or rainy seasons. Skipping soil testing on expansive clay, neglecting drainage planning, or failing to get proper approvals can cause setbacks. Choosing a masonry contractor without experience in TX’s unique soil and climate, or overlooking foundation repairs before starting brick repair, frequently leads to costly issues and delays.

Helpful?

In Spring, be cautious if a masonry contractor avoids discussing local soil or drainage challenges, provides vague contracts, or asks for large upfront payments. Watch for skipped soil assessments, lack of references from past TX projects, or poor communication. Pressure tactics and no clear project manager are warning signs. Ensure your quote details materials, potential weather delays, and thorough site cleanup for a reliable experience.
