"We had a window casing and framing project on our new construction home. From the first phone call, Gary had the vision of what we wanted. He was a great partner in this project. We were completely comfortable with him in our home. He did what he said he would do, when he said he'd do it (which is rare enough) but he brings the eye of an artist to the work. I feel like I can't recommend him highly enough. Just fantastic work. Happy to have the project done but almost hate to see him go. 😁"

"Mike Griffin and his team do great work - a few years ago we had them build a garden gate and gazebo, working from our design ideas and taking it to an artistic level - we still get compliments on the gate with its unique grille design! This latest job was mostly repair of an older deck including a new cover, a water-damaged patio enclosure and replacing a section of fence. So, a diverse set of building repair skills/techniques, all handled by Mike's crew in one job. John's masonry repair on the patio post is excellent, for example. Mike is very thoughtful and creative about problem-solving with older homes that have been remodeled several times. He assessed some roof damage as well and gave me advice on when it should be replaced."

"They did a wonderful job removing my old wooden fence and installing a new one with two gates. They were able to match a new stain with the paint color on the old. Very pleased with their work."

"

A Technician named Larry arrived at my home at 9:00 A.M. I showed him the damage, went to the truck for his tools and went right to work. I provided the flashing material and he furnished the rest

.Larry worked very quickly and efficiently. Even though it took longer than I thought, it looks great. Larry did a professional job. He took the time to measure and precisely cut each piece. Just like the logo says on their truck, done right. The cost of the job turned out to be more laborious than I thought, but I am pleased with his work and Highly recommend him.

"Russell was able to come look at my job within a day, discussed repair options with me and the cost was very reasonable. Got my shed fixed, but also, he helped me line up a few screws on stairs I was assembling, carried the heavy stairs to the shed and cut up the old ones for me. Great guy, super helpful and responsive!"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Bump-out additions can extend anywhere from 2 to 15 feet from an existing room. The right size will depend on how you plan to use the new space. For a cantilever bump-out, which doesn't require additional foundation support, the limit is typically 24 inches (2 feet). If a footing and foundation are part of the project, a bump-out can be much larger, even encompassing a whole room. It's also important to remember that many residential properties have limits on the total house size relative to the lot size.

There are a few easy ways to locate a wall stud without a stud finder. First, try knocking on the wall with your knuckles. Most parts of the wall will sound hollow, but when you tap over a stud, it will sound more solid. Alternatively, since studs are spaced 16 or 24 inches apart, you can measure those distances from a corner of the room, which will always have a stud.

Building a barndominium means converting a barn into a house. Barndominiums are becoming popular as spacious and stylish alternatives to typical housing structures. Old barns that become houses traditionally consist of wooden construction. However, newer structures, such as pole barns, often contain metal exteriors and roofs. Converting a metal outbuilding into a house presents an excellent opportunity to create a barndominium from metal.

To calculate the number of linear feet of baseboard you’ll need, measure the length of each wall of the room you’re installing them in as close to the floor as possible, rounding up to the next full linear foot. If it’s your first DIY molding job, having a few extra feet on hand for miscuts is a good idea.

Yes, you can hang picture frames, shelves, and other items on Trusscore panels. For lightweight items (less than 30 pounds), the company recommends using adhesive strips rather than nails or screws. However, you’ll need to secure heavier objects to a stud in the wall. In these situations, Trusscore recommends cutting away the panel material and fastening the object to the stud with metal hardware.
