"GenPro installed a Home Generator for us. Andrew Spitzmueller and his team were dependable and reliable. Did what they said they would do. When they encountered roadblocks with sub-contractors and permit inspectors, they worked diligently to resolve the situation. They are honest and trustworthy people. Highly recommend them."

Customers say: Quick response

"I would highly recommend Adams Electrical for any electrical issues. Thomas and Mark did an excellent job and worked extremely hard digging the new trench, installing the line and the new panel. They took extra pains in cleaning up the area after the job was completed and were very courteous and professional throughout the entire process. We will definitely call them again for any electrical problems we might have."

"Ronnie, Pam, Cindy and crew were wonderful to work with.  There are several steps to the process, given potential permits needed and coordination of service dates with Center Point Energy.  They kept me informed and walked me through the process at each step.
I got bids from three companies.  Storm Guardian's bid was the lowest and included the most features.  It included Mobile Link, which the other two did not even mention.  Being able to remotely monitor the generator and receive alerts on my IPhone and on-line when the generator turns on/off is great.  Almost as important to me, they came through on their promise of near turn key.  The other bids had me doing a lot of the leg work with Center Point.  With Storm Guardian, I only had to make two phone calls and be home half a day to authorize Center Point's replacement of the gas meter.
I am very pleased with Storm Guardian and can recommend them without reservation.  Great work, great people.

"I felt it was a inappropriate to quote for an installed turn key generator and then charge me and extra $120 for the generator's battery right at the end as an adder."

"Sear electric and their team were great. We had two projects, the first was to pull a 40amp line to charge my Tesla from one side of my house to the other and install the appropriate Nema outlet. And the other extend a standard 110 outlet outdoors to a new location. Both projects look and work great. The team was on time and the detail of the work is great. Absolutely no complaints and would definately hire them again"

"I had an issue in which none of the lights or receptacles worked in the master bedroom and master bath in one of my rent homes so I assumed one of the branch circuit breakers in the panelboard needed to be replaced. Jonathan troubleshooted the situation and determined the issue was actually five wires wired to the same terminal in the panelboard which over the years eventually caused the problem. He quickly rewired the wires to have each landing on their own terminal point, and the problem was solved for a very reasonable price. It is so great finding a contractor who is both knowledgeable and honest. I have found my electrician for any future electrical issues on my rent houses as well as my own home."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

It’s usually better to repair your generator if it isn’t working properly, as it will typically be much more affordable and should yield similar results. Generator repairs cost around $300 on average, while installing a new whole-house generator costs around $5,000 on average. The only exception is if you know your generator is reaching the end of its useful life, usually between 30 and 40 years. If you have an older generator, you could face multiple repairs in the coming years, which might mean that a full replacement will be more cost-effective over time.

You can determine what size generator you need for a transfer switch by matching the switch to the largest outlet on your generator. Larger generators can power up to 10 circuits, while most 5,000-watt generators can provide power to six circuits. So, if your generator’s largest outlet is 30 amps, you’ll need a 30-amp transfer switch.

If you’re wondering if you can use your electric vehicle as a backup battery, it depends on whether your EV is compatible with bidirectional charging. This technology allows energy to flow both ways, enabling vehicle-to-home (V2H) backup power, vehicle-to-load (V2L) for appliances and camping, and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) to support the power grid. Compatible EVs convert stored DC energy into usable AC power, helping reduce energy costs and enhance grid stability while providing emergency backup power.

Yes, installing a generator usually increases your property value because buyers are getting the added peace of mind knowing they’ll be able to maintain power through blackouts. In most cases, you should see close to a 100% return on investment (ROI). Keep in mind that home generators usually need a permanent foundation, and installing a concrete slab will likely raise your property taxes slightly.

These advanced generators use a key fob or a smartphone app to remotely start, which is ideal for getting power back on immediately without venturing outside. This feature is more common on whole home generators, but you may be able to find it on large portable generators, too.
