"Great! I had two new bathroom faucets installed, a leaky backflow valve on my water treatment system replaced, a broken toilet flange fixed and he replaced the filters on on my drinking water treatment system. Kraig was on time, neat and I feel like the price was fair. I would definitely recommend Kraig as a all around handyman."

"Awesome! I had two other companies come out and tell me everything needed to be replaced ($1900 and $2900 estimates were given along with days of work). Tommy came out and said everything could be repaired for $800! He sent me the written estimate and everything was done accordingly! It looks brand new and it only took about 6-7 hours. I highly recommend Tommy and his son!"

Small jobs welcome

"Reggie did a full master bath remodel for me and did an excellent job both in the work and the recommendations for the design. He is a hard working guy and very friendly. When you hire Reggie you’ll end up with a project completed masterfully and a new lifelong friend. We would highly recommend him and will be using Reggie’s services again shortly."

Handyman Services questions, answered by experts

Discuss design preferences and material choices before work begins for cohesive results.

There are a few advantages to hiring a handyperson as a contractor, namely that they will likely charge less for their services since they don’t have as much overhead. A handyperson might also have more flexibility and be more involved in your specific home project, so you can communicate with one person instead of a subcontractor team.

Tipping contractors, builders, or general contractors is not customary or expected. Unlike many service professions where tipping is built into the payment structure, construction professionals typically charge a full rate for their services. However, you may choose to tip a worker for exceptional service, such as if they go above and beyond, stay late to meet a deadline, or work on a holiday weekend. Before offering a tip, it's a good idea to ask about the company's policy, as some prohibit their employees from accepting gratuities. If you want to show your appreciation for a job well done without giving a cash tip, consider writing a positive online review or offering to serve as a reference for potential new customers.

Handypeople usually don’t hold trade licenses, so they typically aren’t qualified to tackle projects involving installing or making alterations to plumbing or electrical lines. Below are some jobs that a handyperson usually won’t be able to complete:

  • Installing plumbing for a new kitchen or bathroom

  • Replacing plumbing pipes

  • Installing or repairing septic systems

  • Running new electrical wiring

  • Installing a subpanel

To install or move washer and dryer hookups, you will likely need a combination of professionals. A plumber can handle the water supply lines and drain pipes. If you have a gas dryer, a plumber certified for gas lines or an HVAC specialist will be needed to run the gas line. An electrician is required to install the correct electrical outlets. For simpler jobs, a local handyperson may suffice, while a contractor might be needed for tasks like drywall repair for the new vents.
