"Rick Applewhite came to my house this morning to check my foundation; I can say up front I was expecting the worst! However, after checking my foundation (& explaining what he was doing the entire time) he told me no work was needed!! He also showed me what to look for so I would know to call & have it looked at. He was friendly & very professional! I would recommend him!!!"

"PACT came and tested the water at my house. Preston was very professional and explained what was in the grapevine water system and what a purification system would clear up. After the installation we saw the change and are very happy. You can taste, feel and see the difference. Our shower glass actually stays clean! Price was fair as well."

"Michael and his team are great! They were prompt, professional, and did amazing work! Michael dug up our old grass and installed new zoysia sod in our backyard. He also designed and built a wonderful bed with some great trees and shrubs! Now that it has grown out a bit it looks fantastic!"

"Very well. We usually call a roto-rooter kind of place, and those prices have climbed over the years. But I had actually met with Baker concerning some marketing work (didn't get the gig and not involved with them) and was impressed with their training and facilities. It was an emergency on a weekend which bumped the price; and the guy broke out the big guns, fiber-optic cameras and electronic tracers, so it got pretty pricey. But I got a look at the whole system, he found several issues that will require major repairs, which were actually under the house and not in the line to the street. So it was worth it to get the "rolls royce" of drain inspection and cleaning. The guy knew his stuff and got the drains open, and I got a full look at issues that will need to be corrected. He was also respectful of the fact that I've done a lot of work on (and under) the house and have maybe "above average" plumbing knowledge, so he worked "with" me on understanding issues and how the system is laid out. Nice guy and well-trained."

"We heard about Nathaniel from a family member last year. We needed to get our side-yards raised and graded due to erosion. Nathaniel was extremely informative in helping us choose the best solution. We asked for a quote on sod initially, but Nathaniel educated us on a longer-lasting solution. We ended up going with stones, pavers, mulch, and ground covers to completely transform the sides of our house. He even offered to come back and check up on the finished product and teach us how to properly maintain our yard. Free quotes, education, competitive pricing, and follow-ups definitely set Nathaniel apart from the rest! He is a pleasure to work with and extremely flexible and understanding!"

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

A sump pump can be added to an existing basement. To do this, you will need to use a jackhammer or sledgehammer to break up the concrete and dig a pit. You will also need to create a hole in your basement wall to run the discharge pipe through.

No. Sump pumps have different capacities, which refers to the volume of water that they can remove. They also come in various horsepower ratings, which measure the size of the pump’s motor. For many homes, 1/3 horsepower is enough. But if you live in an area that floods often, you might need a more powerful model.

Most people consider a French drain to be one of the most effective solutions for foundation leaks, but it’s not always a standalone solution. French drains will help keep water away from your foundation to reduce the risk of leaking and structural damage from soil expansion, but depending on your foundation type and location, you might need other systems or techniques—like soil gradation and gutter and leader installation—to resolve the underlying problem.

Most sump pumps come with power cords that can be plugged into an outlet, but there are options that can be hardwired into a home’s electrical system. Either way, it’s smart to have a backup power supply in case the electricity goes out during a storm. That way, the sump pump can keep running and removing water from the sump pit.

Some sump pumps are powered by water rather than electricity. Water-powered sump pumps generally use one gallon of city water to pump out two gallons of water from its basin. Therefore, if you're looking at a potential 10,000-gallon flood, your sump pump will need to use 5,000 gallons of city water to prevent it.
