"This was my first experience with an electrician. I will say that the others that called wanted a service fee for coming. One would absorb the fee if I had the work done and the other would not. Mr. Electric did not have a service fee, but was, in my opinion, way too expensive for the work I needed done. My husband was very put out because he kept telling me he could do it himself. I insisted on a professional because it was electrical. So, Mr. Electric did the job and the light in my kitchen is working perfectly, but I cannot help but feel like I was had. Not so sure that I would use again."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Schedule electrical work in Frisco if your panel is over 20 years old, you experience frequent GFCI outlet trips, or you have aluminum wiring. If your home is older or you’re planning renovations, consider a full electrical inspection. Booking projects in spring or fall helps avoid peak demand, and preparing before storm season can help prevent unexpected outages or damage.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Frisco should start with a comprehensive electrical inspection to identify outdated wiring or overloaded circuits. Install GFCI outlets in kitchens and bathrooms, and upgrade to hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Adding ceiling fans, surge protection, and extra outlets for modern devices are smart upgrades, especially to handle Texas heat and protect electronics from power surges.

Helpful?

In Frisco, pulling cords from outlets, overloading power strips, and daisy-chaining extension cords can strain your electrical system. Running high-wattage appliances on the same circuit or neglecting regular GFCI testing increases wear. Skipping annual electrical inspections or ignoring minor issues—like buzzing outlets—can lead to bigger problems, especially with the area’s frequent storms and temperature swings.

Helpful?

In Frisco, if you notice flickering lights, outlets that feel warm, burning odors, or frequent breaker trips, these are strong indicators you need electrical work. Issues like a single dead outlet or appliance malfunction may be isolated, but widespread problems often signal wiring or circuit issues. Always consider Frisco’s storm season, as power surges and humidity can worsen electrical problems.

Helpful?

Be cautious if an electrician in Frisco provides only verbal estimates, pressures you to decide immediately, or requests cash-only payments. Quotes that are unusually high or low may indicate inexperience or hidden shortcuts. Ensure the contractor discusses necessary permits, is familiar with Frisco’s inspection process, and can provide recent local references to confirm their reliability and code compliance.
