"Crosstown returned my call and scheduled me quickly for structural engineering. Angel was very professional and had my drawings turned around in just a couple of days. He even included a couple of options at my request. Super simple process. Definitely recommend."

"Had previously purchased Belgard pavers installed. There was a long delay due to lots of contracting work during the pandemic. I had to call several times to keep abreast of the schedule. I was finally notified THE MORNING of when the crew was to begin work. That was unacceptable as my backyard was ? not ready? and I had planned to be at home during the first day of the process. Fortunately, I was able to watch the installation via my Ring floodlight camera and work was completed in two days. Cleanup was exceptional. My patio and walkway are beautiful."

"I gladly recommend Accurate Foundation Repair. They recently added to my home 9 new exterior and 5 new interior piers plus adjusted several already existing piers. The crew arrived promptly and obviously knew what they were doing. Doors that wouldn't close now close and lock perfectly. Thank you Accurate Foundation."

"I was impressed with Mason when he came out. He is a true professional. His crew arrive on time and finished the project in one day. The work was stellar - his crew was courteous and went the extra mile to correct our drainage issue. The results far exceeded my expectations - their attention to details is fantastic. I have another issue that requires their expertise and there is no other company that I will consider. Great job, great people, great price."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Rock salt and ice melts contain sodium chloride, aka salt, and are corrosive to metal and concrete. If used frequently over time, it can cause corrosion, discoloration, chipping, and cracking to patios, walkways, and driveways. You can try a rock salt alternative or hire a professional snow removal company instead.

Handbuilt masonry fireplaces are likely what comes to mind when we think about curling up by the fire at the end of the day. But bricks in the firebox and chimney tend to be heavy, which is not ideal for homes with weak or damaged foundations.

Prefabricated fireboxes come with a full flue and chimney system, significantly reducing the price and installation time. However, if you need to replace the panels down the line, you are locked into the same model or something very similar.

A traditional rectangular brick that is used for siding, brick walks, and pathways is 8 inches long by 4 inches wide. If you are shopping for fire bricks, the standard dimension is typically 9 inches long by 4.5 inches wide.

Cutting stone comes with a number of safety hazards. First and foremost, if you’re not comfortable with the equipment required to cut stone, including blades and grinders, you could easily injure yourself. The heavy machinery also poses a risk to your ears if you don’t wear proper ear protection; similarly, you need to wear eye protection to keep debris from irritating your eyes.

However, the biggest risk from cutting stone comes from the stone dust. When breathed in, stone dust can be a huge hazard to your lungs. Always wear a face mask when cutting stone to prevent inhaling stone dust, and thoroughly clean the work area when you are finished.

To avoid injury, we recommend hiring a stone-cutting professional, rather than attempting this job yourself.

Stone veneer siding is approximately four times less expensive than stone because it's made of concrete and aggregates instead of natural stone. But veneer looks like real stone, is easier to install, and acts as a great, durable siding option.
