"The Carnival Custom Painting they restrained and applied some gloss coats to the exterior door and side lights. The gentleman that did the work was extremely good. Work was very well done and completed within 7 hours and they charge some $1,050 but considering the amount of some damage to the wood and the fact that the person that did the previous job staining painting of the door wasn't very careful and left a lot of rough monks on the door. I could consider that to be a bargain price for making look almost like new considering that."

"S&J did a very professional job of painting the exterior of our house. It seems to be a very well managed company, they explained everything to me in advance, and they do great work. They are very knowledgeable about every aspect of painting. I learned a lot from them. In particular I appreciated the attention to detail - they replaced the caulking around all my windows, painted the shutters, repaired rotted wood, painted the gate at my pool, stained the front door in addition to painting the entire exterior of our house - every detail to make our house look like “brand new”. S&J was a pleasure to do business with in every way."

Small jobs welcome

"Did a job more difficult than usual in a house interior that had smoker stains that needed to be blocked before topcoating. And, did it at a reasonable price. Much of the interior, several rooms painted."

"Excellent job.  They taped everything off, no spills.  They did not do the trim, only walls, and there was no bleedover onto any trim or any of my furniture or fixtures.  They even removed and reinstalled the tv mount so as not to get any paint on it and to ensure the wall was uniformly painted.  They fixed all dings in my wall to perfection, including some pre-existing sheet rock damage.
They truly went above and beyond.  The paint job looks great.  They also worked FAST and were done 2 hours before they said they would be.  Worked through lunch.

"High quality work. Dependable and good pace of work. Very good attention to detail. Leo helped with the design of a carport with a 30 span using a 16 x30 architectural beam. Turned out fantastic. Painted a 3 story house, nailed siding, repaired gutters and replaced some shingles. Great job!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Stain is meant to be absorbed by the porous wood, allowing some of the natural grain to show through. With that in mind, you don’t want to add more stain than the wood can absorb, as you risk covering up its natural markings. Generally, two coats is the maximum you should do, although very dense hardwoods may only be able to take a single coat.

Your tool of choice ultimately comes down to personal preference. Many DIYers prefer applying stain with a lint-free rag, but others stick with a paint brush or a roller. Wipe the stain and work it into the wood, working with and against the grain. If you’re applying multiple coats, allow the stain to dry for around four hours between coats.

Yes, pressure-treated wood can occasionally turn green due to certain preservatives, such as copper-based chemicals, used during the treatment process. These chemicals react with the wood, creating a greenish tint. The good news? It's temporary, and the color will fade over time. Staining or painting can also help hide any unwanted hues.

The opposite is actually true: Wood stains tend to appear lighter when they’re fully dry. However, stains may darken as they weather and oxidize with age. Stains might also darken on surfaces left in direct sunlight, as UV rays can break down pigment particles and cause them to darken over time.

Yes, many repair services include repainting to match the color of the existing siding or walls. Most professionals offer this service to ensure the repaired area blends in seamlessly.
