"We needed baseboards and entire downstairs cathedral ceilings - 2 stories high - and banisters to be stained to match our floors. They worked on the project by hand, cleaned up each day, their prep was outstanding and covered the furniture, etcetera. They are now doing our condo for us! We were very impressed. Highly recommended."

"Would recommend to anyone looking for interior painting. Guillermo was quick to respond at every step of the process from estimate to day of work. Communication was straightforward, professional and courteous. Cost of service was very fair, the best quote we got from several companies. In addition to best cost, work was immaculate and quick. We threw in some last minute requests, which they were able to accommodate also at a very reasonable price. Guillermo was very easygoing with every request. He and his team delivered beyond our expectations and we’re keeping lone star painting in mind for future renovations as well."

"Our story begins with the flooding of my mother-in-laws home due to Harvey. Many contractors and sub contractors worked on her home with varying, mostly not good results. I first contacted Eddie and Luxz Painting & Design to paint the outside of her house and he made a great first impression with his knowledge and detail of what needed to be done. We showed him the inside of her house, and he went room to room and gave us a quote on what it would take to finish the job. They took it as a personal challenge to get her back in her home as soon as possible. I cannot begin to express how pleased we were with the results. Eddie and his crews did exactly what they said they would do at the price we agreed on. He was always available to answer our questions, often calling us to get our input or approval on something he thought would look better. We now have a company we will trust our own home to for any kind of painting or remodeling work, knowing they are trustworthy, skilled, and dependable."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Wood stains last anywhere from two to five years, depending on exposure to the elements, your local climate, the type of stain, and the surface it’s on. For instance, vertical surfaces last longer than horizontal surfaces. Some types of woods, like dense hardwoods, will require a recoat yearly, as they are too dense for the stain to absorb. In any event, apply a recoat every 2 to 4 years. As for storage, a can of unopened stain can last up to 5 years, though results may vary.

Avoid using cleaning products that are abrasive or contain bleach or acidic components on composite decking to avoid discoloration. Early-generation Trex decking isn’t designed to handle pressure washer cleaning—and if you use them on second-generation boards, always use a low setting to avoid the risk of damage that can risk voiding your warranty.

Staining a deck is typically less expensive upfront than painting. The cost to stain a deck professionally averages around $850, with most homeowners paying between $550 and $1,250, depending on the deck's size. A DIY staining project can cost less than $100. The cost to paint a deck ranges from $500 to $2,000. While the initial cost of staining is lower, it's important to consider long-term expenses. Paint can last up to 10 years, whereas stain needs to be reapplied every few years, which could lead to higher costs over time.

Always sand a deck before repainting so the wood is smooth and ready for paint. While you do not need to fully remove paint before repainting, sanding helps remove any areas with weather and sun damage. Sanding also helps remove chipped or flaking paint and opens the wood pores to improve paint adhesion.

Yes, they provide design insights that enhance space utility and visual appeal.
