"Well, I had 2 different contractors come out and tell me I need new units because they were undersize and the duct work was the wrong size. My house is a year and a half old. Petrocelli Services came out and added return air ducts and individual thermostats. It’s was an 1/8 of the price and it worked. They knew what I had been quoted. If they had said the same thing as the other two contractors, I would have been ripped off for several thousand dollars. I’ll never call anyone else for my AC needs."

"Back in 2010, I hired A-Plus to install a Lennox HVAC system for my condo. They provided extensive details on the available models and helped me to choose the best option for my needs. The installation went perfectly, and to maintain the warranty I have had the system checked and maintained by A-Plus since then. Debbie has been my contact when I called in to make an appointment for most of those years. I've also talked to David who does the dispatching, and he's terrific to customers. All of the technicians have been great: always prompt, kind, thorough, etc.  I especially like to see Angel when he comes to check out my heating and air-conditioner. They have (to my knowledge) never tried to up sell me on anything, but always correctly diagnosed any problems and arranged for a repair asap.
When the problem of the coil replacement came up, Angel diagnosed it, and put in the replacement.  A class action suit against Lennox for the faulty coils came up, Debbie efficiently helped me to understand the legal and air-conditioning lingo that was confusing me on the claim submission form. I had all the forms and numbers, but Debbie's extensive knowledge of the business and her extraordinary customer service assistance allowed us to quickly get everything done perfectly.
I may be moving within my condo community in the next couple of years and need a replacement heating and air conditioning system. Without a doubt, I will be calling on A-Plus to do the job!

"Alex was great and was able to provide me with a competitive quote and fast installation when our upstairs AC compressor exploded on our 15 year old system. Alex was able to guide is through the tradeoffs for different price-point systems and ultimately we feel like he helped us make the best choice for our situation. I'll definitely be calling Cool Time in the future for any of my other AC needs!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Many factors affect how much adding air conditioning will cost you, from the size of your home to the size, type, brand, and installation specifics of the system itself. Chances are, a new central air conditioning system for a 2,000-square-foot house will cost somewhere between $3,900 and $7,900 to install, with an average around $6,000

The cost to add Freon to an AC ranges from $100 to $350. It can increase up to $600 for large AC units requiring much more coolant. The cost also depends on how much refrigerant your unit needs. If only a small amount of Freon leaked out, your cost would be on the lower side. A complete replacement of all the required refrigerant can get expensive.

No, for two very important reasons. First, it’s illegal to release refrigerant into the air or ground since it can be toxic and cause environmental damage. Technicians typically pump old or extra refrigerant into separate tanks for special disposal. Second, without professional equipment to read refrigerant pressure and levels, plus the AC’s suggested requirements, it’s impossible to know if you’ve removed the right amount of refrigerant. Stay away from a DIY solution here and seek an expert with the right tools.

You should know the main components of an air conditioner: the condenser coils, evaporator coils, drip pan, AC filter, ducts, and refrigerant. Each part plays a key role in the performance and safety of your AC system. When tracking the source of AC issues or odors, it helps to know where to look. Your outdoor unit houses your condenser coils, fan, and compressor. Your indoor unit houses your evaporator coils, drain lines, and filter, and it connects to your ductwork.

While your AC unit may still run even if its capacitor is going bad, doing so takes a lot more energy, so it can drive up your electric bill and cause further damage to your AC unit’s parts. If you suspect a bad capacitor, it’s important to have a professional diagnose and fix the problem before you continue to run your AC.
