"This review is more than a year overdue, but I was very happy and satisfied with the job done by Brick Restoration Inc. I had a plumbing leak (frozen pipe break) in the wall behind the kitchen sink, and the repair could only be made from the outside wall of the house. BRI quoted me a very fair price for brick removal and restoration. When it came time restore the hole in the brick, BRI came back out and filled in the hole with all new bricks. Since it is nearly impossible to find the same kind of bricks, their brick layer was very skilled at painting the bricks to match the existing bricks. I was very happy with the work that was done. I will call BRI again if I ever need brick more brick work done."

"Mason was very thorough in explaining the process to me and what to expect, including how long to wait b4 getting inside cracks repaired and on preparing my yard for the work. He did two bids based on his measurements and those of the structural engineer I had hired to inspect the house; Mason actually recommended I take the lower bid so as not to mess up my stamped concrete patio (he did not think the extra pilings were worth it b/c there wasn't much sinkage.). Very honest and accommodating; always kept his word."

"Choosing Fix My Slab was the best decision I could have made for my foundation repair. Right from the very beginning with the evaluation and estimate, everyone was friendly and business oriented. I never felt rushed to make a decision and every question I had was answered calmly and without making me feel less than informed. The crew that did the repair was to say the least impressive. It has been a long time since I have witnessed a work crew that actually enjoyed what they were doing and their top concern was doing the job right. I could not be more pleased and have already recommended them to 2 of our neighbors. They made a stressful and worry-some situation very easy to deal with. This is a pure model for business. If you happen to get Cesear as the supervisor on the job, you have nothing to worry about! He was fantastic.

"It went very well and I highly recommend this service. Alvin has been in the landscaping business for many years and was very patient and understood exactly what I wanted. This was a no stress, no pressure project and was completed in one day, the day before Thanksgiving, so the timing was excellent. I described that I wanted the flagstone areas to be more natural and not cemented in place and this was no problem. We needed to move a few plants to other locations and this was not a problem either. I was very pleased with the professionalism, good service, and reasonable price. It looks really beautiful. Now I can enjoy the outdoors and use the stepping stones to keep my feet dry. I will definitely contact Alvin again, when I am ready for a new landscaping project."

"The crew led by Brandon G arrived early and got to work right away. Jefferson and Fransisco worked hard and got the jacks in place quickly. I really like this foundation support method way more than other cheaper and less reliable leveling solutions. Very professional and got it done quickly and well."

"The concrete supporting the deck around the pool was sinking, causing the flagstone to crack and split away from the pool coping. Southern Concrete Raising performed grout injection around the perimeter of the pool, raising and stabilizing the surface. The job took several hours. Everyone at the company was nice, punctual, excellent communicators, and easy to work with."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can cut patio stones with a circular saw. Similar to using an electric grinder, you will need to use a diamond blade as this is the most effective blade for cutting a material like stone. The stone must be wet when using a circular saw to ensure the cut is smooth.

Natural stone is formed in deep layers of the Earth through natural processes over thousands of years. The solid composition formations become massive rock beds, or quarries, from which miners extract them.

The material you use depends on how hard-wearing your steps need to be and what you want them to look like. The most common stone for exterior steps is bluestone. It’s hard-wearing and durable, and bluestone steps cost between $15 and $30 per linear foot. Limestone is also a popular option and is mid-range, costing $25 to $50 per linear foot. You should always consider the specific requirements of your project before ordering any materials.

If you want to make your home eco-friendly, enjoy low maintenance, and love the fact that its looks will take people’s breath away (and not because they were trying to blow your house down), then a modern brick home is right for you. You can hire a mason to get the building process started for your brick home.

But if you’re not fond of the color and don’t want to deal with the process of repointing or other repairs, consider going with vinyl or wood. These materials offer a lower cost. While they tend to require more maintenance, they don’t cost nearly the same as exterior brick house repair.

Not all cracks in brick indicate foundation problems. For instance, small hairline cracks can occur as a new construction settles. However, larger cracks are often a sign of a more severe issue. Indicators of a potential foundation problem include long horizontal cracks, "stair-step" cracks, vertical cracks that appear indoors, or any crack that widens at the top. Other signs of structural damage to look for are uneven floors and doors or windows that stick. These issues could be caused by problems with the soil beneath the home or an overgrown tree.
