"They showed up on time, as promised. In Knoxville, this is a huge win. They got my fireplace back up and working again, but I felt that the price for the visit was too high. They also didn't fully clean up the work area when they were through."

We have a lot of experience since my girlfriends mom has been cleaning houses for the past 15 years and she has helped her since she was younger. I have also been helping them for the past 2-3 years. We are hoping to get some more clients and be successful! We are also willing to do different tasks, just ask!

"I had a great experience with this company.  Not perfect, but great anyways.  The representative estimated the cost of my project and explained the different price points of the stone including the difference between using a remnant and ordering a slab.  He came out to the house and measured everything for us.  He went through his entire inventory of remnants that would fit my project and had them ready for me to look at when I went back to the store.  I fell in love with a piece of granite, river white, and of course there wasn't a remnant large enough for my project.  They ordered it for me and it was here in a week.  They set up the install while I was out of town.  My mom let them in.  When we got home we realized that the hearth was not the proper width and the side pieces were not exactly where they were supposed to be.  Our representative came back out, agreed that there had been and error and promised to take care of it.  A new hearth was cut out of our remnant and the installers came back out and pulled the first one off, did some onsite cutting and installed everything again.  It now looks amazing.  I plan on using them again in the future and would recommend them to my friends.

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Signs that your chimney may need to be replaced include visible damage like cracks in the structure, bricks, or mortar, as well as crumbling or flaking mortar and loose bricks. Leaks, dampness, discoloration, and efflorescence (a white, stain-like substance on the bricks) are also key indicators of water damage, which can compromise the chimney's safety. Addressing these problems is essential, as a chimney in this condition may be at risk of collapsing and causing major damage to your home. A full replacement costs about $10,000 on average, but can range from $3,100 to $15,400.

When your fireplace is not in use for longer periods of time, such as over the summer, you can keep smells at bay by spraying either a commercial fireplace deodorizing product or a blend of one part distilled white vinegar to one part water around the walls of the fireplace.

Or, you can place a container of charcoal inside the fireplace to absorb odors. Just be sure to remove it before it’s time to start using the fireplace again.

Not all gas fireplaces need a chimney. If you install a ventless gas fireplace, it will release low levels of combustion byproducts back into your living space (instead of pushing them outside through a chimney or vent). Ventless fireplaces burn fuel efficiently, so the emissions are minimal—but they could bother people with allergies or respiratory issues.

You should use an angled brush to first paint the mortar lines, then go in with a high-density roller to evenly paint the bricks one at a time. You can also use a flat paintbrush to paint individual bricks, but a roller is faster and easier to use thanks to its longer handle and wider surface area for coating the bricks. To finish, go in with the paint brush for edges or hard-to-reach areas.

A chimney liner is a good thing to invest in regardless of if you have issues or not. Chimney liners increase the safety of your fireplace. Without a chimney liner, the gasses that get emitted during burning could eventually damage the masonry and create a major fire hazard in your home.
