We are a small family owned company that is ran by a father and daughter. We have been in the knoxville community for over 25 years. Our business was established 20 years ago. We do commercial and residential. Licensed and insured Dyon construction will turn your concrete into a work of art.

"Dyon Construction was hired to stain and seal the concrete floors throughout my 1100 square foot home. The agreed upon cost was $6600, which I paid in full before the work was begun. The workers did arrive promptly and completed the job within the identified time frame. However, I discovered multiple issues with the finished product. Debris was sealed into the floor, sealer had pooled and bubbled in several spots, a closet floor was not completely stained and sealed, and a door and walls were sprayed with the stain. I reported the issue to Bianca Dyon, who came to review the finished product. Ms. Dyon did not fully acknowledge the problems, but said it looked "pretty good" to her. She did agree that the workers should have done a better job of protecting the walls, but she did not offer to correct this issue in any way. After I persisted, she agreed to buff the sealer off the floors and reseal them, which meant that my family and I needed to move out of the home a second time so the work could be done. Additionally, I needed to hire movers and a storage pod because the entire house had to be emptied for the work to be done. Eventually Ms. Dyon connected me to her insurance carrier to file a claim for the damage done to my walls, but this was only after I asked her a second time how she planned to resolve this issue. I asked Ms. Dyon to reimburse me for the hotel, movers and storage pod for the second round of work, which would not have been necessary if the job had been done correctly the first time. Ms. Dyon did not respond to my email, so I called her to follow-up. At this time, Ms. Dyon said that she didn't know if she could reimburse for those costs because she had "already paid a deductible because of the insurance claim" for my wall damage, which should in no way relieve her of responsibility for the other issues. I do not have an unrealistic expectation that work will always be done perfectly. However, I do have an expectation that a business owner will take responsibility for the quality of work that is done and that they will correct any issues that arise from that work. I also feel that it is a business's responsibility to cover additional expenses that arise from the work they do for a client. Had Ms. Dyon accepted responsibility for the poor quality of work rather than trying to convince me that there were no problems and had she willingly accepted responsibility for the additional financial expenses that were incurred due to her business's poor work, I would have been satisfied. However, I feel that she exhibited a serious lack of ethics and professionalism. I would not recommend this company to anyone, nor will I ever use her services again."

Decorative Concrete questions, answered by experts

You will know concrete is fully cured after 28 days when the new concrete reaches its maximum strength. Follow the cure time information on the manufacturer’s label or ask your concrete pro about when your concrete is fully cured. You can drive your concrete once it’s partially cured, usually around seven days after it’s poured. After one week, the concrete is strong enough to hold up to regular-size vehicles.

Yes, all basement floors crack in response to the natural settlement of the soil around them and from concrete shrinkage as it cures, and you’ll see hairline cracks as a result. However, you should keep an eye on your basement floor to see if cracks continue to lengthen or widen or show signs of water intrusion. In any of these cases, the problem is likely not settling or shrinkage, and a professional repair is necessary.

Yes, you can lay fake grass over concrete in a few situations. Concrete that is both stable and has proper drainage is an ideal base for artificial grass and is even a great DIY project. In fact, it's an excellent low-maintenance and eco-friendly alternative to tearing up your concrete patio and planting grass or ground cover plants.

Yes, concrete is significantly stronger than masonry, especially if the concrete pour includes reinforcements, like steel rebar. Concrete is a uniform material that can withstand compression, sheer force, and tensile force as long as it’s reinforced. Masonry involves the use of mortar or grout to connect individual building materials, like brick, stone, or tile. Mortar and grout are also reasonably strong and resist compression well, but they don’t come close to the strength of poured concrete.

The cost to install a concrete driveway is $4 to $15 per square foot on average. Your price heavily depends on your desired concrete finish and driveway size.

For a driveway that is 200 square feet, you can expect to pay an average cost of $1,900. For a driveway at double that size (400 square feet), the average price is closer to $3,800. Plain concrete is significantly more cost-effective, averaging $7 per square foot, whereas stained concrete averages around $19 per square foot.
