"Tony and Earl were very professional. They installed all my cameras and checked everything to make sure it was working as it should. They were very polite and answered all questions we asked as they were working. They took time to explain how to operate all cameras. I am very pleased with their work and the courtesy they extended all along. Their work is excellent and their prices are very competitive. Highly recommend A & H Electric."

Small jobs welcome

"Barry is a legendary professional. He can solve even the most puzzling electrical wiring mysteries. Also, he is very respectful of the home and always uses booties on his shoes and cleans up after he’s done working. Definitely one of the most solid vendors I’ve worked with during my two years of hiring vendors for Aiken remodels."

"Jeff spoke with me in the morning after I requested service the previous evening (late). Told him about our dryer, not heating. He requested a text photo of the model number/SN on the sticker inside the dryer. I contacted him the following morning via text, he texted back that he had the repair part and would be at my home within the hour. He arrived and work was completed within 30 minutes----new heating element installed. I have never had a major appliance issue addressed so QUICKLY. Super impressed with Ace."

"Shawn Powell scheduled an installation and overview of my security system for 5/14/2021 and he was here promptly on that day. He had to detour on his way to my house but he texted me to let me know he was delayed. Shawnâ s customer service is impeccable. When he got to my house I had on my mask, he respected my home and put his on. When he had everything installed he gave me all the instructions I needed to use my system. If you want great customer service, a professional installer and top of the line security system for an affordable cost, Shawn is your man. I highly recommend him."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

It might seem tempting to use 14-gauge wires for your outlets, as they can run a little cheaper. But, when it comes to electrical work, it’s best not to cut costs less you overload your circuit. A 12-gauge wire will ensure that you’re protecting the outlet (and your circuit breaker) from any potential overloads that might incur, as it can handle a little more amplitude than a 14-gauge wire.

No, there aren’t additional code requirements for kitchen lights. Kitchen lights and other electrical circuits in the kitchen have different code requirements. Outlets need to be particularly robust because of their frequency of use and proximity to liquids. If you need help determining where to install outlets in your kitchen, consult a local electrician who can ensure that placement is functional and up to code.

No, it is not safe to use an outlet that sparked. A spark from an outlet could indicate a short circuit, loose or frayed wiring, or other serious damage. Continuing to use an outlet that sparks can increase the risk of electrical shock, electrical fires, and other hazards. It's important to turn off the power to the outlet at the circuit breaker if possible and avoid using the outlet until a licensed electrician has inspected and repaired it.

The answer depends on your needs and the availability of your current electrical panel. If you’re hoping to seriously up the power in your detached living space, you may also need to consider increasing the power of the amp your home runs on (from 100-amps to 200-amps, for example).

GFCI outlets help prevent dangers from ground faults that can cause shocks. This is a different issue that a ground circuit can’t fully address. It’s best to use GFCI outlets combined with ground circuits for complete protection for you and your electronics.
